You, and other black women and girls seem to have a supposedly perceptual edge in discerning or identifying fetishism from genuine desire from non black individuals; which is often paired with ire for black men and boys for not being as able or willing to identify the fetishism that is aimed towards them...my question is do you think women and girls would be as equally largely aloof about being sexually fetishized as their male counterparts, if said fetishizing initially satiated their primary desires as it tends to do for boys and men?
It depends on the individual. Personally, I see the fetishization of Black men and women as problematic due to its ties to slavery and thus, not able to be reconciled in any way whatsoever. That said, I am annoyed by
any behaviors exercised by individuals in our community that perpetuate stereotypes because I find it socially unhelpful.
That said, I almost
expect non-Blacks to fetishize us, so when it happens, I'm just sort of 'meh.' Black men, to me, will always be viewed as hypersexual, mindless, beasts whose worth is only reduced to their genitals when it comes to romantic relationships and Black women as hypersexual, "easy" and "unrapeable," sluts by non-Blacks, as messed up as that sounds. As hyperbolic as this sounds, when it comes to romantic relationships, I don't think non-Blacks even see us as humans, but walking sex toys to get their "forbidden fruit" sexual experiments out of the way.
This is also why I find it even more upsetting when members of our community lean into these tropes. You see this heavily within the hip-hop and rap community. Think of how the average Black male and female is portrayed in rap music videos. Especially the females. Now, compare how, say, White females are portrayed in rock music videos. God help me, but the most raunchy video that even comes to mind is the music video for "Cherry Pie" by Warrant.
So we know that "BBC" is an acronym that refers to black men and is often a signifier for those that want to fetishize black men. Is the term "Ebony," a term that is used as a signifier for those that fetishize black women? I used to work in a porn shop back when porn was still rented and bought. I do recall there was a section called "Ebony" and the bulk of it was interracial porn with a black female. I am now curious to see how black women are depicted in porn and if they are playing up specific tropes the way that black male porn stars are.

We're portrayed two ways in the media:
1. Manipulative Jezebel sluts
2. Fat, angry, comic relief
I'm 99.9% sure "Ebony" is a porn category for Black women. I don't ever see it when it's just Black involved. But in lesbian porn, if Black women are involved, the word "Ebony" is everywhere. Any White porn studio that features Black performers will always fetishize them and lean into harmful stereotypes. There are Black amateur performers who also do this, but less so.
That said, I would never name my daughter Ebony. The name has been ruined by porn.
