In the meantime, if their Instagrams and Stories are any indication Alexander may or may not be dating an openly gay photographer named Dan Collins who's done a bunch of photoshoots & headshots for male soap actors including Alex. That or they're just friends with benefits.
He is cute. Who knows, would be a cute couple :p

I saw the film last night... It merits a movie review!

The plot is sometimes slow, until it flashes out. It's kinda all over the place. It does portray in a sense how male to male relationships come out all of a sudden, yet for the rest it's quite bland. Interestingly enough, the "Magic Mountain" subplot comes around during the ski trip. Poly and mono relationships are somewhat realistically portrayed, which could be an up for it's realism. So it's really a mashup of things that sometimes fit, sometimes don't.

Actingwise, it's very realistic, yet it's not really transcending. Indeed, some of the comic relief may seem awkward and inside jokes to those uninitiated to the rugby world. Rugbymen tend to have a very brutish humor so probably for the regular queer viewer, it may be percieved as completely outlandish. Considering the writer and director is a rugby coach, the regular moviegoer may also feel out of place with it. In this sense, we cannot expect a writing or acting masterpiece either because it's his debut film.

Aesthetically wise, it's a pleasant surprise. The cast was a complete delight for the gay-male gaze, which is not surprising considering the main target audience. Photography is neither amateur, nor exquisite, yet it has a special touch that should be fostered for any future projects. This shouldn't come as surprising given the director is equally a photographer. The music is very nice. It's not too minimalistic, subtly harmonized, and it comes in good synchrony with contemplative moments during the film.

In a nutshell, it's an unpretentious film that delivers some good things, while some others are found wanting.

7/10
