Ah.
I see it differently. I see it as acknowledging how homophobic and racist our lives, our educations, and our culture is bad has been ever since we were founded by religious extremists too extreme to fit in on the continent where Inquisitions and Heretic burning/hanging/drawing-and-quartering were things that happened on the friggin reg.
Racists wrote the laws in this country, homophobes ‘shepherded’ souls, and all together made it so that only straight, white men of the ‘right’ faith got by. Black people finally got freedom, only for white lawmakers to create and adjudicate laws unfairly to target black men for prison disproportionately to stock prison work camps (aka, legal slavery by another name). So we freed the slaves...only to create an entirely new system of slavery in its place that mainly targets the people we ‘freed’.
But, I guess that’s me. I see things how they are, not how I wish they were. Homophobia exists. Racism exists. And they are insidious, they have permeated American culture since it’s founding, and only recently are people finally fed up enough to point out all the ways - large and small - that the systems are stacked against people of color and queers.
That said, I mean...if jerking off to a hot guy who has been proven, with receipts, to be a racist homophobe is not something that causes your conscience or soul any problems, then go on and do you. No one here’s gonna stop you.
We’re just gonna sit back and judge you.
