Sad that it got cancelled in it's last week of production. I'm hoping that the second season since it's nearly done,is able to be bought by another network. If not, I'm hoping it gets leaked. We don't want all that nude content to go to waste.
Cancelled

Sounds like a financial tax purposes, they need write offs
They don’t “need” tax write offs. It is for financial gain, with the Warner/hbo merger the new ceo said he wanted to “cater to middle America” so anything that’s not about white straight men seems to be getting axed to make room for Joanna Gaines to shiplap a fucking castle

If they're willing to cut shows like Westworld off their platform after all the critical acclaim and spending like half a billion dollars making it, you better believe they won't think twice about condemning this little show to the garbage bin.

HBO and HBO Max are different. People who run HBO aren't the same as the people who run HBO Max. The two aim at different audiences. Discovery thinks they'll be able to deliver to same HBO Max demographic while actually being able to make profit. That's why it seems HBO shows aren't being affected while they are scrapping HBO Max shows.

False lol, westworld was an hbo show and not only was it cancelled but it’s being removed from HBO. It used to be that way but once warmer brothers and discovery merged David Zaslav has been in charge of it all. He’s the one that cancelled the batwoman movie right when it was about to release, and the nevers, and minx, and westworld, etc. it’s all him. Minx though is being shopped to other networks to air this season as they were about wrapped on filming.

I thought Westworld was cancelled due to low viewership? I read that producing a season cost more than a 100 million and the numbers it was bringing wasn't equating the cost.

It was just cancelled, but then more recently announced its being pulled from hbo and hbo max so you won’t be able to watch the old seasons so they don’t have to pay royalties on it.

HOORAY! Shocked Starz picked it up considering how they've also been removing shows from their platform like HBO Max
So Starz is currently a corporate sibling of Lionsgate. Fellow Lionsgate subsidiary Lionsgate TV produced the series that Starz suddenly removed recently (Step Up and Dangerous Liaisons). Lionsgate is in the process of spinning Starz off, after which it (Starz) will be an independant buisness again. So a bunch of Lionsgate-produced content is getting pulled from Starz as part of that process.
