crash Tuesday in Braceville Township.

According to the Ohio Highway State Patrol, troopers were on the scene of a crash in Braceville Township at the intersection of Route 5 and Route 534 where they had stopped traffic on Route 5.

Troopers say that a Jeep Wrangler drove through the road closure, driving past stopped traffic and onto the scene of the fatal crash.

Multiple orders were given for the driver to stop, but the driver continued onto the scene, running over the foot of one of the officers and subsequently ended up with that officer’s weapon, according to the patrol.

The driver fled the scene and a pursuit ensued.

During the chase, a passenger threw the firearm from the vehicle.

Eventually, the Wrangler came to a stop in a nearby parking lot and both the driver and passenger were taken into custody. The firearm was recovered and returned to the officer.

The driver was identified as Leaon Gordon, 26, of Brookfield, Connecticut. The passenger was identified as Noah Denious, 22, of Cuyahoga Falls.

Initial charges included failure to comply/fleeing and tampering with evidence, both felony charges.

The case is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Both are now jailed on bonds of $25,000 each. They are due back in Newton Falls Court next week.

Of course the hot white boy gets out first

Actually one was released on bail, and the other wasn't because one of his charges does not allow bail.

"Gordon, who was identified as the driver, is charged with aggravated robbery, assault and failure to comply, while Denious faces tampering and aggravated robbery charges. Bond was set at $25,000 for Denious during a preliminary hearing on Tuesday and he is free on bond, but Gordon’s aggravated robbery charge is not bondable and he remains in custody, jail records show."

Finally understand why some reports stated a gun was stolen, and other stated the suspects "came into possession" of the gun:

"Police Chief Gene Fixler said Newton Falls officers and patrol troopers were yelling for a vehicle with two people inside to stop from entering the Braceville accident scene.

“One of my officers was directing traffic when the vehicle came right toward him and a trooper,” he said.

Fixler said the officer drew his gun to try to stop the driver. But the driver drove over the officer’s foot and the gun ended up inside the suspect vehicle, which had an open window."

(This part-time officer is now on leave pending investigation.)
