It's more surprising when people have consistent booking in AEW. He will be back when there's something for him.

AEW has always encouraged talent to take bookings with other promotions. That makes sense seeing as they’re a company born out of the 2010’s indies. It’s mutually beneficial and part of why they’ve grown so fast.

AEW has always encouraged talent to take bookings with other promotions. That makes sense seeing as they’re a company born out of the 2010’s indies. It’s mutually beneficial and part of why they’ve grown so fast.
As far as the heel thing goes, again, most talent don’t maintain a heel persona outside of work and tv anymore. Most stopped doing that way back in the 00s.

Which is part of why no one buys into wrestling any more. It's a shame because the actual wrestlers are more athletic than they've ever been but very few protect their gimmick now and it definitely lessens engagement in the product.

People engage with it differently than they did when there was just TV and road shows. Pro wrestling as a whole is huge right now but you won’t necessarily be able to see that reflected solely in, say, TV numbers.

It's not quite at the old "water-cooler" point but yes, it's hotter as an industry than it has been in about 15 years.
