That’s not correct. Pretty sure Pangina was supposed to win season 1 but got eliminated. Tia has some family member that works for BBC and they were apparently instrumental in getting the prize money for this season. It would not surprise me if that’s why Tia got pushed so hard. I know that Ru also really enjoys judging the UK seasons so it’s not surprising that they usually tend to get favorable critiques.

To me, it would have made more sense to crown a queen that isn’t from the UK this time around but Tia did have a great track record so…

It was a joke that Thorghy said on the reviews with Bob and people are taking it out of context. And the prize money was provided by WOW not the BBC which is an american company that neither Tia OR her family has nothing to do.

I read that the production team is purely WOW, and that BBC is just the broadcaster so no BBC Rep or executive has a hand on deciding the winner. (I have NOT confirmed this information)

the bbc doesnt give out prices as UK's communications regulator, Ofcom, stipulates that a person has to win the prize fair and square, which would be problematic as dragrace is .. rigged.

also the BBC is funded through license fees and public money, it cannot justify giving away money.

The BBC can have shows that have prizes IF it is something that is voted on by the whole panel or the contestants. Since the contestants are the ones picking who makes it to the top 4 (allegedly) then it takes the decision out of the judges hands. I’m sure WOW put up most of the money but my understanding was that the regular seasons didn’t offer prize money since it was just ru deciding.
