Anisotropy is the property of being directionally dependent, as opposed to isotropy which means homogeneity in all directions. (The way velvet looks, the sheen that comes up when the fabric is turned a certain way.)

In physics the length changes depends on the direction it is measured in.

Here is the link: EOS-Magazine. try dutch or french, but in that magazine it was. And I'm not only a body, but also someone with brains, and if you read the post carefully you would notice that my first sentence was this: 'I just read an article in a science-magazine...' So I didn't say I thought that!

I've had issues with sleep or at least with waking up and being alert since high school. It's nice to finally have a diagnosis which makes sense. I sometimes got the feeling they just thought I was lazy. The truth is I am not mentally alert prior to 10:00 AM. I've been that way most of my life. My high school started at...

Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, September 24, 2008; A02

Congress approved legislation yesterday that would require private insurers to provide the same level of benefits for mental illness as they do for physical maladies, a change lauded by advocates as a great shift in the nation's understanding of mental health.

I don't usually post a thread and a blog which are exactly the same; but ZOS23xy mentioned that it was blog worthy and I trust his opinion.

It was inspred by this thread.

As some people here know, I am prone to wake up texting whatever pops into my head, at any hour.

Anyway I have a good friend who over the course of the last 35 years or so seems only to attract bisexual or gay men. As for me I attract gay men like moths to a flame dame. Don't...

Enjoying a Snail’s Pace
Doing Things Slowly
September 24, 2008

Life can often feel like it’s zipping by in fast forward. We feel obliged to accelerate our own speed along with it, until our productivity turns into frenzied accomplishment. We find ourselves cramming as much activity as possible into the shortest periods of time. We disregard our natural rhythms because it seems we have to just to keep up. In truth, rushing never gets you anywhere but on to the next activity...
