There's a bird in my dining room!

On several occasions I've been in chat when some bloke has piped up 'there's a bird in my bed' or 'there's some girl in my kitchen'.
Just something they brought home last night with them and forgotten all about in the cold light of day!
Well I'd been away for the weekend and got home yesterday to what looked like the remnants of a bird in my dining room!

My cat brought her home.
There's feathers everywhere.
Allergic as I am to picking up body parts, I did have a nose around and could not find any. So left the feathers there with the plan of getting the old dyson out this morning to hoover up that which remained of the poor bird.
While plucking up the energy to get on with the task, I sat with my morning coffee, reading a few threads on here when eventually I could not ignore the weird noises anymore.
At first I thought the damned cat had brought something else in, but she was curled up asleep on my bed.
So I sat on the stairs trying to work out from whence the noise was coming....
Yes indeed it was my dining room
and there on the window sill was a starling!!
A little battered, balder and feathers sticking out left, right and centre, but definitely trying to get out the ruddy window!!!
I moved close enough to open the window at which point it took off (it's seems to be able to fly OK... well it did then... ) and flew off down the other end of the room.
Sadly, I hadn't thought to open that window first (would have been ever such a clever thing to do, in hindsight
).I think she wished I'd opened it too, cos the poor soul flew straight into it and dropped to the floor, stunned (I think I puked a little).
So now both windows are open and the door is shut (sooooo glad she didn't decide to fly out the door into the rest of the house).
I am hoping she leaves soon. I don't think I'd charge her rent (she's been here for at least 24 hours) but would love to send her the frickin' cleaning bill!!!
