Hey there. I'm still alive!!!
I had dental surgery this summer (fun, fun, fun) and I still can't chew properly. I'm down to 103 lbs,
and at 5' 6", that means I look like Calista Flockhart at her worst.

Tonight I resorted to ice cream to try and gain some weight. (I don't usually meat or dairy) Maybe I can find some good soy ice cream. If anyone has any suggestions on GOOD soy ice cream, I'd appreciate it.
At least I finally have clearance from my doctor to hit the weights again -- hurray!! -- so I'm hoping to buff up by at least 8 pounds by Christmas.
I've also been working on a new book, which has been consuming a lot of my time.
Anyhoo --- just checking in to say that I'm still alive.

| | Thanks Jas -- I tried the Vanilla flavor and didn't like it. Are the other flavors better? ![]() |

| | Not Punny! You're back ![]() You could make your own soy ice cream, there's plenty of recipes on the internet and you'll know exactly what's in it. Plenty of starches and nuts will do wonders for you. Avocado is good for you putting on weight, as are dried fruits. Increase the amount of oils you use as well! ![]() |

| | Tofutti's better pecan is delicious! ![]() For gaining weight, have you tried pizza (roasted veggies, real or soy mozzarella) or banana/pumpkin bread with lots of nuts, and maybe a smear of Earth Balance soy butter(so good!)? Good luck gaining back the lost weight, my fingers are crossed. ![]() |

![]() This sounds pretty rough.I haven't needed any serious dental treatment for a while but when I had a couple of extractions a few years ago I was eating properly again within a couple of days. I hope you're fully recovered soon. ![]() |

| | So Good makes really good "frozen soy dessert" (my friends/family insist that I use the proper terms, like "cheddar flavoured soy loaf" because it's not "real food"). The vanilla is my favourite, with little bits of vanilla bean in it. Surprising, since their soy milk tastes like chalky shit. If you like chocolate, try this pudding: 1 really ripe banana, mashed 1/3 cup of sugar 1 package of silken or soft tofu 2-3 tbsp of sifted cocoa powder Mix it all together with a hand mixer. Do you have any of Sarah Kramer's cookbooks? She has some great soup recipes, as long as you have a food processor. Hope you get that mouth working soon! |
