Phallic Art II

Naughty, thanks for the two names you submitted in my last blog. You are right. I wanted to share Herb Britts gallery.
I love the way he uses the earth elements with his subjects. Most divine. I should have named my blog something else other than phallic art, but it is the human body at it's finest of both sexes.
I guess why I find phallic art so interesting is because it is so much easier to find nude females. I like those who cross over the boundaries of thinking it is not tabu to show a man's phallus in all his glory.

| | I dont see it as Phallic art even though phalluses may be present. I would call much of this homo erotic art photography. If you want to see actual artwork there was a group of artists who were early inhabitants of Fire Island in the 30's and they called their artists consortium the Pa Ja Ma group. Paul Cadmus and Jared French have since become two of my favorite artists. Much of Cadmus' work was banned in the 30's because of his openly gay depictions but his renderings are exquisite. His later work revolves around his exclusive model and companion. Jared French modelled much of his work after the ancient greek Kronos statues. Also check out George Tooker who was a contemporary of the Pajama group. Here is a link to Google search for Paul Cadmushttp://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=Paul+Cadmus&btnG=Search+Images&gbv= 2Here is one for Jared Frenchhttp://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=Jared+French&btnG=Search+Imag esHere is one for George Tookerhttp://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=George+Tooker&btnG=Search+Ima gesHere is one for Tom BIanchihttp://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=Tom+Bianchi&btnG=Search+Image s Also check out Reed Massengill and Bruce Weber |
