Before and After Hurricane Katrina Photos

I have met a few people on here that have been interested in the progress this area is making after Hurricane Katrina. Let me begin by thanking those of you up front for volunteering or even thinking about volunteering. If it were not for volunteers progress would be even worse.
Here are the before Katrina and after Katrina photos I wanted to share. You would not understand what was lost if you did not know what was there before.

I can't speak much more about it because it is still too fresh, I am living in it now. But I can say I miss my friends that drowned in their homes on August 29. They will not be forgotten.

| | My wife's family lost their home in Bay St. Louis. Her grandfather's home was also destroyed. Only the slab was left on both homes. I witnessed the devastation first hand, as well as its effect on my wife's family. The homes had survived Camile and all others since then. I don't think it is possible to understand the devastation unless you live it... I hope you are coping well. |

| | I live in Chicago, but my whole family is from either Lake Charles (Rita) or New Orleans (Katrina), I got to see my whole family move from one side of the state to the other, and watch both sides of my family history destroyed by two storms. Southern Lousiana is still decimated to this day, and the Cajun culture may never be the same. I was lucky, I only had to host for the several months after both storms, I didn't loose everything. |
