Life with Internet and Phone? Tuesday!

Posted 07-16-2008 at 03:19 PM by Austin Blue
So I woke up at 8:30am after a great nights sleep on 20mg of Apo-Amitriptyline for sleeping and anxiety. I was on trazodone, but hated the side effects. The Apo knocks me out right away, and although I still wake up once during the night, at least I'm not up every few hours!

So this morning, all is well - I have my coffee and I applied for a job as a youth caregiver at a vancouver detox. Then - bloody hell, both my highspeed internet with SHAW and my phone are dead for hours and hours. It's now 130pm and finally the internet is working. But NO PHONE!!

Which I don't understand - the phone and internet are both with the SHAW company. But since the internet is back, shouldn't the friggin' phone be working? I'm so annoyed because now I have to find a friggin' payphone and call SHAW to see what the fuk is going on.

I never should have agreed to go with Shaw internet phone for my phone service!!

What if I had an emergency?

Luckily Shaw my service provider for cable tv, internet and phone gave me excellent on-line support. They reset my phone server as it's connected to the internet via cable tv lines and within a minute - the phone was back working!

I must say that SHAW has been wonderful with their services. I used TELUS before for phone, tv and internet and had nothing but trouble and very bad service.

Thanks everyone!

IP phone service is reliant on 400kbps+ internet service, and they do have trouble with the phone servers from time to time where I live. Nothing a reset can't handle, but what gets me is how long it fucking takes to reboot an IP phone server. The company that I used to work for had Cisco IP Telephony products, and it took like no-joke.... an hour for the phone server to re-boot, re-aquire IP addresses, and re-establish backbone support.
