Women who are 'obsessed' with characters like winnie the pooh

I, personally, find any person who use "themes" (home/work/etc) in their normal every day lives to be very odd and I avoid them fanatically. However, there seem to be alot of women who love winnie the pooh and other cartoon characters, they decorate their rooms and their lives with these stuffed animals, tooth brush holders, etc... Creeps me out and makes me want to run.

What do you think? Playful childishness or just psychos waiting to happen?

There are a lot of men who've never been near a horse or worked on a ranch who enjoy dressing up as cowboys.

Its those big wide eyes and fuzzy fur that lure them in. Like a few adult women in their forties and fifties I know who collect those Bears that come in different costumes every month ( cannot remember the name ) but they cost about 11.99 AU over here and with six bears in a series per month that shit adds up to a lot of money.

To me that doesn't mean I stopped having fun when I hit 21. As one grows and matures fun takes on different meanings. I still love going to the circus and amusement parks, riding roller coasters and eating cotton candy. I'm not above watching Rug Rats or Camp Lazlo with my young cousins. But it's not a driving force in my life. By that I mean my world doesn't revolve around the products which go with these shows and characters.

I think it's a combination of playful childishness and a case of arrested development. In many instances it's nothing more than they loved this stuff as a kid but their parents couldn't afford to buy it for them. Now that they are grown with their own money they buy all the Pooh, Minnie Mouse or Hello Kitty stuff they can afford.

I think that's a wee bit different though. Western wear is at least comfortable and functional. When I see a 6' tall man wearing Wranglers and cowboy boots the last thing on my mind is patting him on the head like a little boy. I also don't assume he lives alone with 15 cats.

In moderation, it can be cute. A shirt here and there, a childhood keepsake or two. But when everything is decorated with Care Bears, it's a little bit creepy.
My fiancee has a huge collection of teddy bears on the top shelf of her closet. She started collecting them as a kid, and now nearly every one of them has some sort of sentimental value. Once we and our siblings have kids, they'll be getting passed down one by one to our children, nieces and nephews.

I think you speak of a mythical beast. I know of NO BODY like this.

Hmmmm, well, in the opening post, you say "a lot of women." I don't find that to be true. Maybe it's common in Texas, but it ain't so in California.

A lot of women hold on to little keepsakes from their childhood. I once had a boss who kept an Eeyore figurine clipped to her purse. It was her favorite cartoon character as a child, and it reminded her never to take herself too seriously. But to the point that it's the motif in every aspect of a woman's life, that I've never seen.

Bring a camera to a Wal-Mart parking lot around noon, you will find herds of them.

Funnily enough, this phenomena is not restricted to women! I personally have no time for nick nacks and stuffed animals. I view them as dust gatherers and I have enough to do keeping my place clean without trying to negotiate my way around a bunch of crap! But my ex-husband LOVED them! I swear to God I literally hauled SACKS of his crap to various charity shops after we split and there is still stuff here (but it won't be here for long...)!

I like to keep my place light and airy with minimal clutter. I have some statement pieces but no trickets or fussy bits. I have this neighbor who keeps buying me crap to display. Mandles Candles and the like (WTF?). I keep lobbing them back at her but she insists they are 'lovely' and keeps trying to gift me with them to make the place 'pretty' (her words). The joke is she knows how I feel about them but she keeps trying to convert me. As if! Steven Segal stands more chance of winning an Oscar.

I've bought a few things I like, then other people think I like everything related to that so I end up with a collection. Only thing I really collect and haven't bought any new strands of old trade beads in a long time.

My gf is seriously into SpungeBob.
I hate any ornaments/toys lying around. My place is clean as a ehistle.
