Your Happy Place

No, not between your legs! What do you think this is LPSG?? lol.. But anyway.. What is your happy place. What is your place of Zen and relaxation. What completely mellows you out? What is your life's greatest joy? To better sum it up... What is the one thing that brings you inner peace no matter the circumstances or conditions?

For me it'll be with my music. Music has this ability to get to me like nothing else seems to even get close to. It's like pure joy to listen to a good song. It's indescribable.

when i was a kid i would always get a crisp perspective
maybe even innocent inspiration, that i took for granted.

i soon got very jaded and it lost the crisp edge, i have been trying
to retain it ever since.

i usually go there in the shower kneeling with hot water
running over my head,i can "flip it" in my spirit so to speak.
when i feel the rush i know my shower is complete.

it can also be a gust of ionized wind, with rain, through open windows.
i love meditating on those days.

that is my happy place.

Oh, you just don't know. A nice cloudy day, with a light mist, and a nice burst of wind through the open window. Or sitting out on the porch in my rocker in the pouring down rain. GAH, it needs to rain RIGHT NOW.

mine is my car...I get in there & take a long ride with the windows down & the roof open...listen to my music...and let the cares of the world fade away...sometimes when I'm really in deep thought, I ride in silence...it's as good as therapy for me...really clears the mind...

Floating on my back in the sea 200 meters off the beach, at dawn. The reflected orange light of the sun in my eyes. It's my daily dose of calm.

Possibly when I'm engrossed in a good book with plenty of time to read (without a myriad of petty interruptions).

Corny as it may sound, there are times when I'm moved to tears by the dramas and adventures of literature. I sometimes feel like I'm riding a giant, exhilarating emotional wave like a big wave surfer carving the face of an immense storm swell. That's how intense it can be.

I think I am fortunate in that I have had a few places or situations of zen/peace in my life.

The Jersey Shore - I'm a beach baby born & bred and I miss the sound and smell of the sea.
Skiing - There is a feeling of bliss and oneness with nature that I get from skiing.
Cortona, Italy - I'd like to retire there.
Pompeii, Italy - Best nap of my life was when I got lost in the ruins and just curled up and went to sleep.

My happy place is home - just put on my music, chat online, relax watching my fish, watch a favourite movie, enjoy nice home cooking, put the candles on and soak in a nice warm bath, go to my local farm shop for food, walk along the river, have friends over this is home.
My favourite Zen place for holidays is the island of Sardinia - it has that WOW for me of beauty and tranquility.

I can have a happy place anywhere where certain conditions are met.

but right now, it would be home. On a cool day, where i can relax, and where no one bothers me or ask me to do anything for them...where i can be uninterrupted.

A good book, music, or a sweet something like a frappacino from Starbucks totally adds to the mood.

It is a very special place from long ago. Either you will love it or hate it. Still family-owned, still grand, still not quite this side of the turn of the century...

... and no TV.

All the better. I'm planning on taking a trip pretty soon and this place is definitely under consideration.
