That could take anywhere between a couple of months to 1 year or more. Much of that depends on you and how well you keep track of your routine and interpret the feedback- e.g.- when you start to plateau it's likely time for rest. If you're rested and you fail to gain, it's time for something different. There's also your genetic propensity to gain, your recovery ability, and several other factors to take into account that will affect your rate of gains.

in one place you say: Week 1 goal: 40 reps Week 2 goal: 45 reps Week 3 goal: 50 reps Week 4 goal: 55 reps Week 5 goal: 60 reps Week 6: Layoff whereas later on you say: During weeks 1-2, you will workout 3 days per week During weeks 3-4, you will workout 4 days per week During weeks 5-6, you will workout 5 days per week, and you should try to do each routine twice a day towards your last 1-2 weeks before your layoff. My question is: do we workout on week 6 or not? |
That's something you'll have to determine. The average beginner's phase is 4-6 weeks. If you feel your stamina sharply decreasing and your soreness increasing after week 4 then that's when you'd start your layoff. Some men can go for longer than 6 weeks without a break, but by then it would be best to progress to the advanced routines. Quote:
