I once took a course from a man who studied with Buddhist monks. He was the most flagrant, open, gay man on campus.
I also have a gay friend who is an ex-Franciscan monk who has stories that rival anything told on LPSG!
A man who lived next door to me in the dorm in undergrad school wanted to join a monastary in order to avoid his homosexuality. After attempting suicide twice, he finally got the help he needed to accept his sexuality.
Whenever you put a group of "celibate" men together, whether monks, priests, or any other group, when they attempt to deny their God-given biological sex drive, they will fail and fail even worse than men who don't try to deny it!
