Eyes Wide Shut... do you think it really happens?

Hi all,

I did a search first, just to make sure I am not repeating an old topic. The most applicable thread was about the movie and Kubrick's impact on it.

The point of my thread here is:

Do you really think that society's elite would actually get together like that and have an orgy?

There are a few items swimming around in my mind that make that notion even plausible.

I'm near St. Louis, MO. Tomorrow is the 4th of July. It is a St. Louis tradition to have this Veiled Prophet fair and parade.

During this parade there is a float which carries the Veiled Prophet. I am ASSuming it is some white older rich guy, maybe somebody way higher up St. Louis's social food chain. You never get to see him because... well.. . he wears a veil.

They never do say who it is, as far as I know.

And then the other thing floating around in my noggin is back when I was in the Air Force, the flying squadrons used to have these key parties. Supposedly, a married couple would show up to the party house and throw their keys in this big empty punch bowl.

Near the end of the night when everyone was sloshed, the wives would go to the punch bowl and pull out a set of keys kinda at random, call it out, and then go home with another, different man.

I wasn't a flier myself so I never did get to witness that in person, but I did hear about it from a number of different sources and times.

What say you?

There's a 'club' in a nearby village to where I live. It's called a 'gentlemen's club' - you know, not the strip-kind, but the well-to-do-kind - but it's actually a wife-swap-sex-club place. So yes, it does happen.

However - if I had to put up with trying to fuck around while someone was tapping that ONE NOTE on a PIANO over and OVER again, I'd go bugshit mental.

(PS: People who view the US and the UK version will notice a very bizarre editing thing - CGI underwear. No, honest! In the US Region 1 version, they actually paste CGI knickers onto people who are walking past in the ballroom scene!)

In St. Louis, I would be more concerned about activity from the KKK if people are dressed in white sheets i.e. "veiled".

To be fair to the OP, yes, one can imagine a few secret societies or parties where orgy-ladden, pantheistic behavior occurs. In the 20s, the English country houses of the landed gentry were known for throwing weekend-long sleep-over parties. Sex occurred quite frankly. One also hears tales of sexual exploits in the French court at various chateaux and at the Versailles Palace before the French Revolution. What about some Hollywood parties from the '60s and '70s...

In today's age of YouTube and cell phone camara photos and video, the possibility of orgy-ladden parties is probably less, but it could still happen...

Anyone ever seen American Psycho ?

That's the type of thing I would worry about rich people doing. I could care less who anyone fucks.

Ugh! That was perhaps the dumbest movie I've seen in years. Tom Cruise's "acting" (if you can call it that) was just pathetic. The plot was insignificant. The "shocking" scene at the end with the mask made the audience, and me, laugh at the end of the movie because it was so ridiculous.

Shortly after the movie my friends and I renamed the movie:

Cross-Eyed Slut

Margaritas ante porcos ;-P

I'm sure super rich people do shit like that all the time, but if you want so much pomp and circumstance, as well as the architecture and general attractiveness of the sex workers, you'd better not be looking anywhere in North America... Around here they'd probably do it in the conference room at a Best Western with Arby's catering.

In my experience, the most powerful people in society are interested in each other and sex, but not at the same time. They tend to be driven, goal-oriented, very busy, and jealous people. Sharing one's spouse, particularly if you're a man, is pretty far fetched. Sure there are the loveless trophy wives and marriages of convenience, but powerful people like keeping, and frequently controlling, the people in their lives. That means no sharing. Nor do I think anyone would purposely expose themselves in such a vulnerable manner to other powerful people doing the same because they're frequently the competition even if you do belong to the same club.

The only secret meetings they have are with others like themselves to talk about their favorite subjects: money and power (more delicately referred to as, 'influence,') and how to get more of both. They may not say that, they may not even think about it themselves, but that's what they do. Even at supposedly relaxed places like Bohemian Grove where they have the notorious Cremation of Care ritual, you're still not going to be Rudy Giuliani and run back to your cabin to change into that cute little Chanel number because everyone else is going to be OK with it. They won't be.

The only orgies I know of are less orgies and more stag parties. Guys will hire prostitutes/escorts from someone like the Mayflower Madame and then invite some guys over where everyone retires to a private room or organize sex junkets to places like The Netherlands, France, Thailand, or South America. Women other than working girls are not invited.

A typical scene occurring with one particular middle eastern prince is to fly to Monaco with a bunch of his friends to join their western male friends on a yacht he's rented in a corporate name. They board in Monaco and then the yacht sails up the coast a bit to Nice where they all wait inside while the launch brings bevies of girls to the yacht. They then sail off to nowhere, far away from prying eyes, to have some fun. All this is done for secrecy yet here I am, a nobody, and even I know about this.

There are, of course, upper class swingers clubs. The problem with those is that once you get too rich and powerful, such behavior becomes a liability because everyone will know who you are and should someone decide to destroy your reputation or business, your activities will be become public knowledge and what the very powerful really dislike more than anything, is publicity. What they love is discretion. Orgies are about as indiscreet as it gets.

I have no idea what the situation is in the gay world.

Super rich people tend to have the dullest sex lives on the planet.

No, they do not tend to orgy... ( unless they are sultans, sheiks and the like... but even then, I have it on good authority that no one is worse in bed than a royal arab...)

Some of them may indulge in some otherwise forbidden sexual perversions... but they certainly do not do this in a group.

The reason is simple... among the super rich... they would never do anything in front of other super-rich that might be used against them.

The Super-rich are, nearly to a person, the most unethical, piratical, and two faced asswipes on the face of the earth... they either inherited the money.... in which case they are likely self indulgent little shits.... or they made their money thru unscrupulous practices.

So... no, they do not have that kind of group sex party... at least, not with other super-rich folks present... it would simply be too dangerous to expose their sexual predilections to people as mercenary as themseleves...

I don't think money has anything to do with it. It was good for a plotline or else they would have been having the orgies in someones 1,500 sq. ft. home and not some castle.

Money doesnt change ones sexual proclivities.

no... but it does change your exposure....

Rich people tend to be far more careful about the possibility of who can find out what...

But the kind of fantasies you see in movies are really just driven by visuals....

Its like strip clubs... according to movies... strip clubs are always these super cool, neon lit, super swanky, hip joints.....

In reality.... they are more like the baddabing club in the Sopranos....

It's a shame that a movie studio has bet it's financial recovery on the box office draw of Tom Cruise. His last movie did not bring the success they had hoped. Is his aging, and nonstop criticism of people who take medication, reducing his box office draw?
