She's a pretty puppet with sturdy strings attached. When the songs dry up she'll sink. But at the mo she's on a golden roll; Disturbia is yet another great commercial pop song. She doesnt seem to match her single success with album sales though, Ive noticed. Hmmm

The economy sucks and her cd's aren't well-constructed. Songs catch on cuz they entertain us for 4 minutes. An album has to be 50 minutes of GOOD music so one or two radio hits and thirteen filler tracks won't cut it.

To get back to "Umbrella" , I find it interesting that there are so many different approaches to the song, which I find to be almost perfectly innocent in content. Look on YouTube for the Tegan and Sara version (there are only shaky live recordings, but you'll get the vibe) and the Lillasyster version, which rocks out great and makes one wonder what David Cook could've done with it on American Idol.

Mariah Carey contributed some bridges to a few songs, I would hardly call that "songwriting". Carole King is no diva and Emilio Estefan wrote most of Gloria's hits with the other members of the Miami Sound Machine contributing songwriting credits. Gloria is a control freak who made the members of the band all sign disclosure agreements and subsequently give up the rights to all of all of the Miami Sound Machine songwriting credits.

Yep, Patti Labelle can write and has always exuded pure hotness... I have always wanted to fuck the hell out of her. I just never think of Alicia as a diva... she has every right to be, I see her as more of a Carole King type, but she is a diva... she don't need no more trainin', but she doesn't have a very large range like the other divas... her one octave range is a bit under par next to Patti and Mariah...
