Gift baskets

When I have house guests it is my usual practice to have a personalized gift basket made up for each as a "welcome to my home".
For instance, for those who have loved food and wine I have put their favorite vintages, white truffle oil, arborio rice, a small vial of saffron and the very latest small kitchen gizmo (micro plane).
The Book Lover- A Alpaca and lambswool blended blanket, several books (that I know that they do not have) from their favorite author and some couverture chocolate etc.
What are 6 things someone could put into a gift basket that would make you feel special?

That's a really nice tradition you have. Let's see now, if I was staying at your house, I'd like the gift basket to contain:

1. Some chocolate-covered strawberries.
2. Courvoisier XO cognac.
3. A couple of good books.
4. A guide of local outdoor activities.
5. Nice pair of Rocky boots.
6. A lock of my horse's mane for the times that I miss him.

1. A bar of my favorite soap. I use a soap called Tetterine. It is made by a small company in Georgia.
2. A nice book that I've never read. I like murder mysteries along the line of Agatha Christie or something financial.
3. Oatmeal/pecan/chocolate chip cookies
4. Some epsom salts to throw in the tub, and soak my stress away.
5. A nicely scented rose in a vase. Most roses have the scent bred out of them. (I'd keep it and the vase)
6. A video of Tyler Perry's Madea.

That's a great idea DF20.

I usually just provide the mini Bath & Body Works toiletries in scents that I know they like. Oh and pillows, I am picky about my pillows. We must own 12 different pillows, some hypo-allergenic, foam filled and some down filled. Within those two categories there are soft, firm, and side sleeper pillows.

I like the idea of the books and lap throw.

OK, Dragonfly. I'll play 4reel this time...

1. Avacado Oil Glycerine soap. (Love the smell and I'm allergic to regular soap)
2. A subscription to a "Cheese of the Month" club.
3. A nice bottle of burgundy.
4. Pistachios
5. Dark Chocolate covered Almonds.

What a remarkably thoughtful tradition...you continually amaze me, gorgeous.

There is but one thing I can think of that would make me feel welcome in your home...I saw it once in a photograph...

Damn. In teh US , especially down south , all you get at someone's house is a watered down glass of "sweet" tea. I need to go down under. I was just watching a special about Australia. I forgot yall had one of teh longest fences in the world and were on the cutting edge of astronomical technology.

1. Rumplemintz
2. Joop
3. Some of that Godiva chocolate
4. Something that has a smell that women like
5. Some outrageously expensive cigars
6. Tour of the continent

Shy? That's me alright...

This is the only thing I desire from your basket, kitten.

I have to say that I get a special thrill putting the baskets together with special little treats that I know my guests adore.
I never get one of those "basket shops" to do it for me
I also make sure I an upto date with their food preferances and allergies
Guests going into anaphylactic shock or being served meals that offend their relgious beleifs is something I want to avoid at all costs.
