Thanks for stereotyping you ass...
In general...yes...we are all aware of the world around us primarily by media even living in a remote part of the world the media of the grapevine affects how we relate to each other...bad media is bad knowledge...that is not a suggestion that americans are stupid...just a little self-involved

Polls are a dime a dozen. At 8 on any given morning, 20 polls can come out on the same topic and give 20 different results.

Studies and research? You mean like the ones where on Monday coffee prevents cancer and on Tuesday a different study says it causes cancer? Research is funded by deep pocketed people and therefore has only a minor amount of value.

That deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball (credit: The Who) - which shows being blind and deaf does not preclude ability or wisdom.

Admittedly the media has a bias; but, this is true in most places. What happens next is what matters-are people willing to look around for more information? Many folks are and many of them are right here in the U.S.A.

Look, there are bright and informed United Statesers (often called Americans) and there are those who aren't so swift. Same holds true in many nations, showing me some few seconds of randomly selected crap, shows me nothing in the way of proof. Come back when you have something legitimate to back your opening statement and headline.

This is not to say that some aren't swayed by what they see and hear on television and that some are unable to handle the simplest of tasks in map reading-again, this may well be the case in many nations, so your polls and videos are at best, worthless. Knowledge is what we allow to be made-it can be vast or it can be nothing. We can talk with and communicate with people from all walks of life and from all nations or we can sit back and just strum on our oud hoping the sun won't burn out by Wednesday. It's what we choose to absorb from or squeeze out of the learning faucet of life.

"Americans known nothing of the world - the evidence"

...but the world (including you) sure seems to know or think it knows a lot about America.

Makes you kinda wonder why all the interest, no?

Meanwhile, all those folks who actually do know something about the world... who HAVE traveled... who were raised in a more world-aware foreign land....

They will continue to vie for any chance to move to the States...

Because... dumb as the Americans are about the world... they don't persecute others for their religion, they don't kill each other over ethnic or tribal affiliation, they aren't ALL on the take, they are really a generous people and a culture of mutual support...

Nobody hates the ugly American more than me...
But I know Germans, Chinese, French, Italians, Hindus, Pakistanis, Phillipinos, Norwegians, Russians, Laotians, Vietnamese, Danes, Spaniards and Mexicans who would not go back home for love or money.

I have traveled.
I am world aware and well educated as to the conditions and concerns of the rest of the world.

Americans could definitely be better educated. We absolutely need a major change in the political arena...

But its still the easiest place to live...

IT still the easiest place to earn a living...

And its the only place on earth where Class, Religion, Caste and Family are not a constant weight for the citizens to shoulder.
I...I'm sorry did you seriously just say we don't persecute based upon religion or ethnicity? Remember after 9/11, every Muslim "not" being persecuted by the public just for being Muslim? Remember how Barack Obama is the first minority to have a chance at the presidency, despite the fact we're a supposedly equal country? Hell even Japan has had a female president and they've been a male dominated society for centuries.

What about "little" groups like the KKK? Or your garden variety neo-nazis? Or the multitude of religious groups that seem to think homosexuality is the devil? Or the fact we have such an asinine crime rate due to gun violence because god forbid we recognize the second amendment was written 200 years ago and times have changed? Hmmmmm....

Further, pleeeeease don't make assumptions. I've traveled. Internationally. Alot.

I'll concede that I'm particularly bitter today because I've been looking for a job in the worst possible state at the worst possible time. Moreover, I never said the US was the worst country. But it's far from the best. Too often people fall into the trap of saying things like, "atleast it's not <insert third world country here>". Well no shit this place is going to look good compared to Cambodia or the Philippines. Compared to other, first-world nations.... This country is flawed and it's only a matter of time before the shit starts flying.

I just want to point out that this is a very good description of the negative elements about the US felt in europe. Some consider america to be targeted by anti-americanism which is just not true. I do'nt hate America or americans. I live in England and just like most nations in the developed world citizens are happy living in their homelands because they can live decent lives. So instead of thinking about the positive things about america which are only as good as that in the developed world we tend to see only the bad things which in the US there are a lot of as described in this quoted post. How many people move to ANY country because it is great as opposed to "you can earn more money" or "it's safer than my homeland". America needs to wake up and stop calling itself the greatest nation in the world as in earlier posts because it only IS to americans, jealousy plays no part in this sentiment just revulsion of percieved arrogance

People can always be educated and given new information. Considering that 50 years back, there was still segregated drinking fountains and bus seats, I'd say the education of Americans is an uphill struggle and all benefit.

Please reconsider your facts and check your history and improve your education. The OP could take a good hard look at his spelling in the thread name.

Thank you.

See! I can google too!! I just chose to google something that presents an idea that seems structurally sound if I exercise just a little bit of logic and reasoning. Just a little bit, not even a lot. Didn't even break a sweat, and it didn't hurt at all!!!!
Psst. Marley, stop exaggerating...

On the other hand, all these Americans with computers sure are dumb. They search the web for porno, free movies, jokes, games, TV and movie information and the like...

...maybe they know how to spell, somehow...

Sounds good to me.

Johnschlong, I can get in an automobile, and drive over 3400 miles (I know I'm stupid, but that's about 5472 kilometers) in a basically straight line, without ever crossing into another country. How many countries would you go through in a similar excursion?

bowtie-teen, you show your abject stupidity by insinuating that lack of a passport equals a lack of intelligence.

Johnschlong, you realize that a supercilious, elitist attitude such as yours implies jealousy and insecurity, don't you? You really are not too bright if you think that your silly clip represents anything at all.

I say the entire fucking world is full of stupid people who base their opinions of ethnic groups, religion, PENIS SIZE and world issues on blogs and personal opinion pieces that employ manipulated statistics to support the hidden but blatant agenda of the author.

DC Deep, I don't trust a lot of people who need props to tell us what they can't tell us on their own , and can only insinuate that content.

The real topic should say SOME Americans know nothing of the world. I hate it when they try to categorize an entire nation for the stupid actions and/or lack of knowledge of a few. There's idiots in EVERY country. I'm sure I can get a few cameras, go to a few slums and film a few slob-like natives giving wrong answers to everyday questions.

But of course, bashing America is the new black and since we choose to live here we must be guilty by association.

And they call us stupid...
