Are you totally insane?

All people from all over the world have been protesting and resisting America's foreign policies since 1950.

Remember the Korean War, remember your wars in Latin America, remember your crimes against Congo, remember your disposal of Allende, remember the Vietnam War?

I mean, honestly, name me one year since 1950 that hasn't seen mass protests against U.S. foreign policy.

I am not insane at all.

America IS one of the greatest nations on earth today, its position attained with the aide of governments all across the world. If civilian populations are protesting about the US, their leaders are not. Essentially the US is easily blamed despite many nations governments being complicit in their co-operation. America is no worse a nation than yours!!!

It is easy for you to sit and pick out the tours of duty that did not run smoothly as would have been hoped.
The american effort in world war 2 was not a blemish on their reputation
Liberating Kuwait was not a blemish, liberating Afghanistan was not a blemish. You 'pick' at americas shortcomings because you are hateful.

America is a pro-active country and if it was'nt then maybe they would have stayed out of Korea and the Congo and Iraq and Afghanistan...and not forgetting Germany...then how might the outcome have been...open your mind to the possibility that American intervention is the lesser of two evils...but oh yes...i forget...you ca'nt

So true... and well put, Marley.

Well.... yes and no...

America is certainly one of the most powerful nations on earth... but these last 6 years it certainly has not been "great".

What made America great in the past was that WE were not the ones who invaded other countries.

( except for the Spanish -American thing...)
We were the ones that came to the AID of other nations ( white, european nations who owed us money....)

We were the ones who believed in the rule of law... and in human rights, and in due process.

Lately, this Country has turned its back on everything that made it great... we have sat in our livingrooms watching "american idol" while our president has invaded other nations on the basis of falsified intelligence and lies about his goals... as he denied the writ of habeus corpus, illegally tapped our phone calls and emails, offered immunity to traitors, hired mercenaries while our own troops lacked armor... and leadership...

We have abducted innocent people from around the world and subjected them to indefinite imprisonment and torture... denied them due process....unilaterally reneged on legal treaties... (some of them a century old) and refused to even address, much less lead, on the critical issues really threatening the world... global water, oil, food and climate crisies.... in favor of focusing all our might and all our future income on a few thousand malcontents with murderous intent.

( BTW FYI terrorism is NOT a threat... no nation in history ever 'fell' to terrorism... its never been more than an annoyance to any government....and Bush KNOWS this... they love terrorism because a people in FEAR will let them do ANYTHING... even bankrupt the nation in favor of their wealthy friends... Hitler used the Jews , the way Bush uses Al Queda... or is it just coincidence that we have concentration camps for al queda)

America is STILL the most powerful nation on earth... but not in leadership, as we once were... we once were the example to the rest of the world... we have become the really scary bully.

That the rest of the world is SCARED about what stupid ass dipshit thing we might do next does not mean we are "great", as in Peter the great.

It means we are terrible... as in Ivan the terrible.

( defined as *causing or likely to cause terror; sinister *extremely incompetent or unskillful )

Bush is doing exactly what Bin Laden could only have hoped to achieve.... Is is making the rest of the world agree with Bin Laden.

Don't you think that the American media rather reflect the agenda of the small clique that controls the country? The multinationals, the agro-food complex, the pharma-complex, the military-industrial complex, the guys who forcefed you the nonsense about Iraq, the doctrinary economic fundamentalists who want you to shop until you drop?

I think Americans are just as interested in the world as other people. But they are being controlled by a complex of forces that want to keep them dumb, fat and idiotic. So the citizens can be sold crap, be fed fat, sugar and salty horror food, be told bogus dribble about being patriottic, and be kept autistic so then can function as cannon fodder when the elite wants them to go to war.
I no longer go to the TV for news as they have nothing interesting to say and are just the opinions of the elite. I rather go online for it as there are more opinions from different sources other than the elite who force their views on the populace. The word for this is BRAINWASHING and honestly, those who eat it up and think they are patriotic are "sheeple" and need to wake up. I travel the world to try new things and to see different ways of doing things. The reason people in America make the same mistakes over and over again in something like marriage IS because they don't look for a better way of handling it. If it doesn't work, find another way! We have a lot of issues that could have been solved if the moralists have not stepped in to ruin free thought and ideas in this country. By now, we could have cured paralysis through stem cells but Bush once didn't allow it and now he wouldn't fund it. Drowsiness could have gone down if we had more vacation time and a one hour nap in the afternoon instead of working us 80 hours a week and paying us for 40. Europeans seem to be more content with their lives and we seem to be more miserable.

I for one have no intention of leaving this country, number one it's way to dangerous, number 2 it's way to extravagant, and number 3 they probably wouldn't let me back in.

Until recently Americans did not need passports to travel to Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean.
