My hubby is a housebear at the moment. Damn economy! That being said, there are some awesome benefits to having a stay-at-home partner, for sure.

I know of at least one other.

For about 6 months after I got married I was a little house husband because I couldn't work in the US until I got my permanent resident status....

It was awesome because I could sleep in, do all the cleaning, laundry, etc before my wife got home. My wife would come home to a nice hot dinner and of course there was another awesome benefit. Since there was no house work to do we were having sex 3-4 times a day :)

my husband is a house husband (and aspiring musician). I make the bacon; he does the cooking/cleaning/shopping/laundry...

I work (for myself), but my wife is the primary breadwinner. I also do most of the cooking and outside housework. My wife does laundry. The babysitter does most of the cleaning. We share in doing stuff for our daughter. My wife would take her to mommy and me preschool, but I took her a couple times. I got some interesting looks from some of the other moms. Now that school is out, her class has been having play-dates at different class-mate's houses. I took our daughter to the last one and was the only one there. It was fun to hang out with the moms (a couple are pretty darned cute). Towards the end, I started getting the "what do you do?" and "did you take the day off?" questions. It is fun to mess with stereotypes.

I'd love to have one of these. Come home after work, demand sex on the spot, where's my dinner, off to sleep. Wake up, demand sex before work, where's my breakfast, did you pack my lunch, see ya after work. Make sure you clean the bathroom, it's filthy.

When my wife and I sold our businesses, paid off the mortgage and settled for an easier pace of life, she wanted to get a part time job and leave me at home to do the D.I.Y, service the cars, housework, etc. It made a lot of sense to me, but whenever I tell anyone I'm a house husband it always seems to get a laugh, so I tend to call myself a writer or photographer, though it's ages since I did any freelance work. I do get royalties on a book I wrote a few years back, but I AM a house husband really. Interesting to hear bigdick69 say husband is an aspiring musician as I found that the greatest thing about a period of househusbandship is being able to develop my musicianship - something that I never thought I'd get the time to do. But music isn't paying me yet so I tend to think of myself as a househusband with ambitions.

Actually what is really funny is for me, the wife. When people ask what does my husband for work and I tell him he is a house husband. The looks I get make me want to roll on the floor laughing. People have a hard time getting there head around the fact that a male would do a "woman" job. I bet that if you told them he is a taxi driver/janitor/chef and Supervisor they wouldn't think twice but say it in its true title they freak. Truly my husband does a far better job than I ever did. I find males to bemore organized and get things done far more efficent than a woman does. I love my hubby to death and my house would fall apart if something ever happen to him.

I'd consider it, hard to tell how life would be without trying.
