Why is it?

I thought this maybe an idea for a thread for those that wonder 'why is it....?'

For instance, one of my first recollections is from my Dad - 'Why is it it always rains straight after I've washed the car?' and it's so bloody true

Why is it that everytime I buy new garden furniture the sun doesn't come back out for months?!!?!?
