I don't think it has to do with one's sexuality. I think a lot of people do it. I do it too much also.

Over analyzing can sometimes get in the way of action resulting in a less then desired outcome but of course the same holds true for action without enough thought.

What type of over analyzing are you asking about here?

overanalyzing is usually a result of fear.

Fear of consequences unanticipated. Fear of making the wrong decision. Fear that you may have missed something that would be crucial...Fear that you may regret your decision.

The trouble is that hesitation is usually more likely to result in a bad outcome than making a less than ideal decision quickly.

And NOT acting is STILL choosing a course....

At some point analysis becomes second guessing... and that is reflective of a deep lack of self confidence.

I'm terrible for over analysing stuff. For example, if a boyfriend sent a text last week with 3 kisses, and only 2 this week.. I drive myself crazy!

Over analyzing is my thing, i really hate it on my social life but is really useful on my job "Software Analyst" .
I'm straight so i guess that breaks pretty much the pattern.

...I should have written that different...
...they are going to find out that I'm not from USA...
...and why I'm typing what I'm thinking?

I constantly overanalyze everything I do. It drives me, and those around me crazy as I often analyze things to such a point, that I confuse myself, and end up coming to the wrong conculsions. I don't think one's sexual orientation has anything to do with it.

Its not a "gay" thing, its people that "think" too much, afriad to "just do it",, its thinking waaaay too much, it stems from fear, need to just "get out of your head", , "analyization leads to paryialization" (sorry)

over analyzing is a sign of insecurity and not trusting yourself.
thinking through things is good but when it becomes an obstacle or excuse for action it robs you of experience and potential joy.

i'm not sure people learn to be risk takers so perhaps it's just part of the comfort zone you need to get through your life.

But isn't it sometimes good to be on the pot?
Doesn't the pot have its own attentional needs?
If you're never on the pot, won't your knees get arthritic?
If a pot's not for sitting, what in heck is it for?
Is the question important anyway?
Are you afraid someone will see you on the pot?
Shitting is important, but isn't it sometimes nice to just sit ... on the pot, say ... and have a smoke and maybe collect your thoughts? You know ... just chill?
Is the old adage, "a place for every pot and every pot in its place," just dismissible, no longer relevant?
What are you avoiding by raising this question?
Are you saying: Stride forth and live, Achilles? Fine, but what isn't life? Have you thought of that? Everything we do is part of life, right? So isn't the whole question sort of bogus? Moot?
And why do we have to choose?
Do we have to choose?
Are you sure?
Who said my name was Achilles?

I think that you are on the pot, Rubi. Then again, I could be over-analyzing.

I agree that over-analyzing comes from anxiety and fear. I see it as an attempt to find excuses to not do a disturbing task. I do it all the time, but I also have an anxiety disorder.

Anything wrong with that? I mean, think about it, rec.
Afraid you can't?
