Foreskin crusaders?

I see that people get very touchy when this subject is brought up... I hadn't discussed it before here, but I had in fact noticed there are several threads. I said it in my OP, and I stand by it: we uncut guys, and by extension the women or men in our lives, know better. That's all ;).

Not that it's any of your fucking bussiness at all, but my very best friend is circumcised, which is very rare here. He had the procedure done when he was a baby, but because of actual medical reasons (his foreskin was too tight and was actually choking his glans).

It's almost impossible to fathom that as a legitimate diagnosis in an infant, whose foreskin will be fused to the glans. If he can urinate he's fine.

If he has persistent bouts of paraphimosis with ischemia of the glans, the list of proper remedies might include a surgery called dorsal slit with transverse closure; never circumcision (unless he's unlucky enough to be treated in the US).

Interesting rant, and true enough - FOR ADULTS. I think the whole controversy, at least on this forum, is that the procedure is performed, routinely and cosmetically, on infants who cannot give consent.

Also interesting that the several members who are whining "stop the foreskin threads!" are ones who have been here only a month or two. Those of us who have been members here for several years have endured this topic, repeatedly, since joining.

Do you mind if I cut off the useless labia from your baby daughter? Or if not that, how about that useless flap of skin outside her ears?

I must admit, I'm always surprised by the amount of vitriol these circumcision threads generate. If people are happy about their status, why do they get so defensive? I can understand the point of view of guys who were cut as babies and resent not having the chance to decide for themselves what their circumcision status should be. It should be up to guys to decide for themselves what to do about their foreskins, so I have to say I'm against infant cirucmcision in most cases.

Even when it comes to religious arguments, from my understanding of things, a Jewish boy doesn't have to be cut in the first week of life. The faith allows for adult circumcision and some of the more progressive synagogues don't even insist on that. I don't know too much about Islamic practices, so I can't really comment, other than to say it's maybe easier to be cut as a baby than when you're a few years older.

I'm glad I'm not an Aboriginal Australian. Some of their faiths practise subincision. Google that one if you're not squeamish.

The point is, it should not be performed on any person who has not given informed consent. Do you understand that? No unnecessary surgery should ever be performed on any person who has not consented to that surgery. Cosmetic surgery should only be performed on an adult who has given consent. Or are you too stupid to understand that concept?

Oh, and by the way, thanks for letting us know. I wasn't aware that lack of circumcision was the number one leading cause of infant death in the world.
