ED problems and complete loss of libido?

In the interest of being informational rather than argumentative I would like to add some information about Lyme disease.

Testing for Lyme disease is very flawed. A recent study conducted at Johns Hopkins concluded that standard testing protocols miss about 75% of the cases. It is diagnosed clinically based on risk factors and symptoms.

While Hoss is not describing the better-known symptoms, my personal experience is that symptom development was insidious and I rationalized many symptoms as being due to aging, or related to something else, or I just denied them. Also, the symptoms that are generally considered to be descriptive, a bull's eye rash, aching joints, feverishness, and joint swelling are characteristic of early Lyme. As it advances, it often turns much more neurological and, at times, psychiatric. Reserach the story or Wyatt Sexton who was a starting college quarterback and was found downtown disoriented and claiming he was GOD. The web site of Amy Tan has a vivid description of her illness. Daryl Hass also has information on his web site. My experience, as I becam more ill but still undiagnosed is that one of my symptoms was a complete loss of libido and almost complete loss of sensation in my penis. It was as if it belonged to someone else. Hoss' description is similar.

Lyme disease has been reported in all of the forty-eight contiguous states except Montana. Further, it is not generally an illness that carries mandatory reporting. So it isn't reported. The CDC estimates that there are at least ten unreported case for every reported case.

I'm really not trying to argue that Hoss has Lyme but it is unusual for a man so young to have the symptoms he is describing.

Hoss, Lyme is transmitted by tick bites. Some of the offending ticks can be nymphs, as small as the period at the end of this sentence. I only know of one tick bite that I received and I got it working in my yard in the middle of Atlanta. You don't need to be a hunter, hiker, or wildlands firefighter to get it. I will send you a list of known symptoms via PM. When I first came across it, I had thirty of the thirty-eight symptoms, most of which I had never brought up to my physicians. If any of this rings true, you might want to check out lymenet.org and go to flash discussion medical questions and/or their online library. ALso, feel free to PM.

I want to add one more test to seek unless you have already had this test. If high cholesterol runs in your family you might want to have yours checked. Yes, clogged arteries include clogged arteries in your penis, or the inablility to get enough blood to your penis. It may be a part of the problem. Many men and doctors don't consider this when dealing with ED but it can at least be part of the problem. Good luck.

I am experiencing the exact same problems as Hoss, only without the semen problems. I am 22, and this began to happen a little over a year ago. I have not experienced any sort of traumatic incident - just haven't been able to get it up. Last summer I went to my physician who tested me for testosterone and said it was almost TOO high. He gave me some Cialis, which seemed to work for a while, but now I can't even get it up with 20 mg. I work out 4 times a week, take multivitamins, drink probably twice a week, don't smoke. I am 6' 2", 190 lbs., and am otherwise very healthy. I recently visited a urologist, who had absolutely nothing useful to offer. I have never had a serious injury or anything like that... I guess I just don't know where to turn anymore. This is becoming an extremely embarrassing problem.

Do you get hard at all? Did the urologist send you home with plethysmograph for night use? Did they do a Doppler flow test with injections?

IF the urologist did neither of those, either find a better urologist or demand your urologist do these things.

It's grotesque how nonchalant some urologists are when young guys appear with erectile problems. They're sure it's all in their heads. To get good medical care, you must learn all about your disease and tell the doctor what you want done. Both of the tests I mentioned are important when all other factors appear negative. Go get these tests.

I am with you, man.
It is extremely extremely EXTREMELY embarrassing.
I am identical, except I am 6' and 230lbs, not overweight, just thick.
I am also finding Viagra 100mg/Cialis 20mg to not work at all, even when I all I want to do is plunge my schlong into my g/f.
It may be performance anxiety, too, or depression.
A urologist I went to prescribed Wellbutrin but I never kept taking it, but I may try again.
It is fucking irritating because there are so many variables.
Now dont get me wrong, I can wake up with a huge boner out of this world, but it is difficult to maintain.
Oh well.
Post here if you guys have any luck.

Welbutrin is good stuff. Not only is it an effective antidepresant but studies have shown it to have a side effect of increasing libido and erections, even in men who aren't depressed. The only contraindication I know of is a history of seizures.

I had a similar issue awhile ago (no libido), so I had several blood tests done, and found my testosterone level fairly low (less than 140 where 250 is considered normal). I went on a testosterone regimen, and boy (no - MAN), it made a big difference. I still don't shoot like I was 18 but the bone is back! I'd almost forgotten how much I like getting stiff easily. It improves your overall mood too.

Thing is I think my hairline is starting to recede. Oh well, if that's the tradeoff I'll take it!

Out of curiosity, what exactly does a Doppler test determine? And if the results are "bad," what can be done about them?
