I don't know where you are located.....(if you are in the USA) but I have noticed a change here lately with the economy and the upcoming election. There are just a lot of added stress. And gas prices.

I live in a really nice neighborhood. Everyone has nice houses. There's a large number of friendly children that play on my (low thru traffic street) But there are 5 houses for sale on my street.....all around me and all for different reasons. 2 are job transfers and the other 3 are people wanting to upgrade and get bigger houses. When people have their houses for sale and they have to sell before they can purchase their next house.......it is amazing how nice and friendly they can be to their neighbors. There is a lady that hasn't been real nice to me and my family that lives across the street from me. (She isn't nice to anyone that doesn't have the same religious views as she does. And because I am a social nudist in her mind I am worse than Satan.) Anyways it is just amazing how friendly this woman has become since she put her house on the market. I told my husband that I bet she she is nice to me because she is hoping that I will tell my nudist friends about her house being for sale.......so she can sell her house. They are pretty desperate to sell. Anyways. Also there have been a lot of layoffs and a lot of layoffs looming in the future. (I think that is the reason why the market is so slow here).

You named your dog Victor?

I don't like most of my neighbors. There are a select few who are genuinely cool and good people. But the rest drive me crazy. I'm nice to them of course, but they are just so annoying. I used to play with the neighborhood kids all the time, and they always told me that I was a good role model blah blah blah, and this is when I liked them. But their kids just became brats, and I wasn't going to deal with it, I had better things to do. One time they were all playing in the lot next to my house, I was there of course, and one of the kids just start throwing rocks at everyone for no reason. So I pick him up an carry him over back to his grandparents house and let them know what he was doing. They thank me and are about to say something to the kid until his mom comes over and says how dare I criticize her parenting, and why don't I mind my own business. I didn't say anything because I liked her grandparents and I could tell that they were mortified by their daughter. Fast forward a couple of years, we get Victor. Almost nobody likes him because he is a pitbull, in fact most of them are probably scared of him. We've had three people say they'd shoot him, all of which own dogs themselves. One of them even snapped at me for helping. Their dog got out, so I led it back into there yard, and noticed that the gate was open, and the chain holding it shut wasn't working. So I close it, and try to wrap the chain right. SHE comes out and yells at me what a I doing? I said I put your dog back in your yard and I'm trying to fix your gate. She said oh and goes back inside, meanwhile I'm thinking "What the hell do you think I was doing? Your gate is all of three feet high, does it look like I NEED to break into it?" Her husband always gives me lectures too, and he hates Victor. I think it is hilarious that Victor doesn't like him either. Everyone else seems to get along fine though, my family is like out of the clique or something.

Don't know, don't care. I think that's part of the issue-- she'd rather not take it up with the buyers of our house because she'll have to deal with any repercussions from that and live next to them for the next few years or so. At any time she can get out there with a shovel and do what she wants with her side-- though half of the plants straddle both her side and our side and have been so long before she purchased her home. She's also disputing where the property line actually is and I think she's slightly off. All in all, this is not something I should be dealing with less than 2 weeks before we move out. The house may still technically belong to me, but it's really not my house to do as I wish with anymore.

These sorts of disputes are far from rare. Years ago, my mother had erected a fence in her yard, and after a good 10 years, her neighbors decided it was 6 or 7 inches on their property, forcing my mother to remove the fence entirely. It was probably that the fencing contractor measured wrong or something. I never quite understood fighting over inches like that. Another thing neigbors love to fight about are trees. God forbid you have a tree that grows over a neighbor's yard and you don't trim it exactly to the property line. I can see if a tree is causing actual danger, but mature trees add value to a neighborhood.

At any rate, 9 days to go and we're outta here.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If she is too lazy to get out there and do something about it herself....It isn't going to be worth the time and money to her to have to take a case to small claims court. And then she would have to present her evidence and I think she would get laughed out of the courtroom. You might even be able to counter sue and get maintance fee for maintaning that little area for the past 3 years. Since it legally is her property.

If I saw a neighbors dog piss on my plants and they did not apologize I would put powdered laundry detergent and spray bleach on their lawn; Or I would check online to see what is the best way to kill their lawn.

If I get home and some asshole is parked in my parking space and it is at night where no one can see me, I let some air out of their tire.

Definately scary! You get caught and you are in deep dew dew. If someone or their animal.....gets hurt or sick and it can be traced back to you ......you can be in a world of legal hurt..... not to mention environmentally unfriendly. And depending on where one lives there can be some pretty big legal fines for that. Not to mention if there is a judgement against you and you have to fix their lawn.

The only thing I could see myself doing......if there was a neighbor who continually let their dog pee on my plants and didn't appollogize when confronted. I would probably borrow a dog and take it over and let it do its business on their yard. I believe in doing unto others what they do to you. I think it might get the point across.

As far as someone parking in Mem's spot......put a sign on the car window. That always worked for me. I would do that before letting air out of tires. That could be used for repeat offenders.

My immediate neighbour is cute, quiet and I hardly ever see her anyway, so no complaints. Sorry to 'disappoint'.

The sign would not help. If my space is empty and my car is not there no one can see the sign. Anyway it is people either visiting my building or the building next to mine that park in my spot.

The other day I got home and someone was in my spot. I
layed
on the horn and luckily someone came out. As he was getting in the car I told him that he can't park there. He said it was not his car. So I figured that he was moving the car for someone else. The asshole drove away, it was him that parked there.

As far as ruining someone
else's
lawn, I would not ruin the whole thing and I would do it regardless of consequences.

(stupid firefox spellcheck interfering with the google spell check.)

When I was living in a city in a really nice neighborhood, my neighbor and I took very good care of our lawns, and put a lot of time, effort and energy into them. We both had dogs and if other people's dogs did their business on our lawns, it would drive our dogs up the wall to no end. Not to mention, if the dogs pee on 1 plant long enough, it will kill the plant.

So I got a bright idea one fine day. I still had my solar powered electric fence, got some of that new nylon tape that has stainless steel wire woven into it, got it in the same color as the grass, and laid it down and pinned it with golf ball spikes where the strange dogs like to do their business and fired it up.

Next thing you know, the dog walkers (or strays) would come up, then ZAP!! Dog goes running and yelping but otherwise unhurt. Left it like that for week, then moved it to my neighbor's yard. NONE of the dog walker's dogs dared to do their business on our lawns for fear of getting the wieners zapped!!

Don't worry. It doesn't cause burns or damage the mutts. But it sure is funny and did solve a problem.

That's a bit extreme Mem. Is your parking place on the street in front of the house or do you have a lot with your name on it? Because if you let the air out of my tires for parking in front of your house I'd fuck you.
