In all honesty, the best gay film I've ever seen isn't even American. It's called Ha-Buah or translated to English: The Bubble. Without giving too much away, it's an Israeli film about a romance between an Israeli man and a Palestinian man, the latter being in Tel Aviv illegally. It might sound a bit cliche, but it's better written, acted and everything else than any gay American film I've ever seen and the love story is enough to make a grown man cry.

If you don't like films that end in tragedy, beware, but I recommend anyone with an interest in good films see it. I believe they may have it on Netflix, but it's pretty hard to find elsewhere. I got the DVD from Amazon a couple of years back and you can still get it there.

It's a great love story and I'd put it in my top 5 as far as that category goes - gay or straight.

Edit: just checked Netflix and it's on there! It's even available to stream right to your computer or TV. I highly recommend you do NOW if you have netflix! : )

I love Big Eden. This is actually one of my fave fims in general. I watch it like once a year and still enjoy everyone it in and everything about it.

For me it's always been this! I thought about the two of them flip-flopping the first time I saw the movie! Butch and Sundance...could their names have been any gayer?

It takes a long time to become a person. Longer than I thought. I am grateful for my past; because it has given me the present. I want to do well by the future.

LOL! I love it. Who would have thought it. But come to think about it. We should go back and look at other "straight" films....

I just saw "A Single Man" recently, and it was well done. A bit sad, though.

Beautiful Thing. From England. A great and touching film about 2 teens admitting their feelings for each other in a poorer are of town. Makes me cry everytime. It really caputures that thrill/panic of first kisses, love and experiences.

The Bubble is one of my favourite films!!! I watched it when it aired on tv one night and I can't believe I flipped through the channels to find such an amazing movie! It still touches me just thinking about it. It's very heartfelt and feels very real and now.

I have watched it and I enjoyed watching every moment of the film! OMG, thank you for recommending this movie, it's a heartbreaking and touching movie. Very mature and not centric on sexual stuff (unlike some others that used sex as the main attracting factor).

Basically it's a story of 3 roommates with each on their own story. But the main plot would be the gay Israeli soldier, Noam who fell in love with a Palestinian man, Ashraf. Things seemed to be sweet and bubbly in the beginning, but when political conflict between Palestine and Israel heated up (especially when Ashraf's sister was killed in a military activity, although the conflict has been played since the first quarter of the movie).

I believe that to produce a movie that's both individual and political is very very difficult. The way the writers show how devastating the wars can be, both to the country in general and to the individuals such as Noam and Ashraf, was brilliant.

I can say so many good things about this show but now you got the idea how beautiful it is. I cried at the ending.

Wow, this is a GOOD life!!!

Glad you enjoyed it, lopo2000!! :)
I didn't cry at the end. I was too overwhelmed to cry. I just sat there for like the next hour, thinking. I think I thought about it a few days later, then cried.
