Chronic Procrastination Syndrome

I've been saying all week that I should spend all this spare time writing. And even though I'm bored as hell right now, waiting for a movie to download (yarr!), still I sit here on this site rather than make small steps towards living the dream. Go me.

are you an in-denial post-whore too? its much easier once you accept your post-whoring ways. my family had to shoot me with a tranquelizer dart, hog-tie me, and drag me to therapy. luckily laptops now fit in the palm of ur hand. uh-oh, here comes the warden.....

I wouldn't say I'm in denial about it. I just prefer to leave each confession and subsequent discussion to its own focus group.

Dude, my best school projects were done the day before. But you have to be careful about the point of diminishing returns. There's a huge dip in the quality of work done between the night before and the morning of.

Procrastinators of the world, unite! (...Tomorrow)

I thought now that I'm out of school maybe my procrastination would wane a bit... but I'm afraid it's only gotten worse. :o

Aha, I had a similar thought. It was like "Hey, now that I'm not in school, I can work on getting (personal project) done." Then it turned into "It's not like I'm working and going to school. I'll have plenty of time to work on it later."

maybe we should start a support group ...

or, we can do what one of my grad school girlfriends did -- she nonchalantly just scheduled a time to do something, then did it

Y'know, I've actually tried that. Didn't work for me. And setting deadlines for myself proved to be hugely counterproductive, as well.

What about making lists? I like crossing off the things I have done on my lists. It gives me a nice feeling of accomplishment.

Of course, I have been procrastinating making a list, for a few weeks now, because I know what I need to do I just don't want to do it.

I am self-employed and I work from home. Unfortunately, as a programmer, I work on the PC. There is always a distraction (TV, Video games, Chat, LPSG). I seem to end up popping into LPSG every hour or so. It seems that the more I 'work', the more I end up trolling the forums.

I need to get my ass back into the military or martial arts. That gave me alot of discipline. I can remember making my bed and lining my shoes up in the closet.
