i've dealt with depression too. i know how hard it can be when all you want is the sun to go down so you can go to sleep and not have to face the world. i know all about those inner battles. but i was storng enough to make it through that. so its not impossible. our country is slowly turning into a nation of pussies.

if it was established that she was mentally ill, why werent her parents keeping an eye on what she was being exposed too? how come parent always seem to be exempt from being responsible for their kids?

so if i'm mentally ill and i rob a bank because someone told me too , does that mean it's their fault ?

Kids hold it in because they don't want to hurt their parents. And times were such to me, I don't think my parents would have understood, even though they were a portion of my depression (I had undiagnosed food allergies).

Kids hide things: their moods and feelings and what love is.

This is where the Mother who is being discussed dwelt upon.

Kids are shy of love and how they feel. Grownups sometimes smirk and smile as if they aren't really "in love". Or because they are thirteen, they'll get over it.

mista geechee, do you have kids?

no. do you? and if so does that make me less qualified to speak on the subject?

if she was shy then her parents should have taken the time to fix the communication problems they had between eachother.

so if i say something to someone in a weakend mental state , and they take it a step further than what i actually said , am i now responsible for their actions?

If that person is a child, and you repeatedly, relentlessly psychologically abuse her, making her feel as miserable and meaningless as possible, and also encourage her - subtly or not - to kill herself, and then she does it?

I don't see how you could claim you had nothing to do with her actions.

i didnt say partly responsible. i mean guilty. as in the direct and only cause. and obviously that's not the case since the girl was already mentally ill and her parents were doing nothing to help her. is our country really getting this sensitive?

why didnt the members of judas priest get locked up? didnt they "tell" those kids to commit suicide? wasnt marilyn manson partly responsible for the actions of the columbine shooters ? or isnt that the arguement? so why isnt he in jail? besides, she didnt actually say , "kill yourself" .

I do. It doesn't disqualify you. The degree of empathy and understanding is different.

There are laws about harassment . This case qualifies it that respect. There are cases where people are suicidal and someone gives them a gun and say "here". And they use it on themselves. The owner of the gun is liable.

This case is in that grey area.

Does this answer your question?
