Which are the rare blood types? Does it vary by country, region, ethnicity? Or is AB negative always rare any place in the world? I don't know that, that is a rare blood type. I was just using that as an example.

I have AB+, which I know is rarer than most (it's something like only 3% of the population, right?), and more fortunate than most (I can use just about any blood type, so the only way for there to be a shortage of blood for me is if there's a shortage of blood for EVERYONE).

I've never heard of those blood types, though. I know a friend of mine has this weird blood type that only 5 families in the US have. All blood she donates can only go back to herself. She can't use anyone else's blood, and no one else can use hers. That must REALLY suck.

I love the way that stats can provide guidelines for your life. Like the guy who always carried a bomb with him whenever he flew in an airplane, since the odds of there being two bombs in the same airplane are next to nil...
