why dont ethnic people tip?

I was told when young that if one received good service, one gave 10% in appreciation, if not then less. There seems to be a percentage inflation.

Let me take you elsewhere- I tip cab drivers 20% rounded up, plus an additional dollar, two if they were human. I know a few cab drivers and they say the worst tippers tend to be white bitches and snooty nose white boys. Of course, it's well known that cabbies don't pick up Hispanics or blacks or any non-white (and no Jews either) because they clearly all live in the bad sections of the city.

In hotels, I leave five dollars daily-I frown upon leaving a twenty at the end of a week long stay; since there are often different persons cleaning each day. I receive thank you messages regularly on the desk in the rooms.



Let's see now-Ethnics (whatever they are) don't tip you properly,and neither does white trash (do you even understand what white trash means?), old people should be paying-listen up sonny, you young folks need to learn to pay your own way.

its allllllllll about how you talk, present yourself. If you are ultra rugged/ghetto/ whatever the PC term is (mind you black or white, what we like to call "wigga's"...then i wont be rude...but i definately wont give you grinning ear to ear service like I usually do.

off topic but the after-church crowd can be THE WORST!! i started working at a movie theater when passion of the christ came out, and you could NOT tell a church that it was sold out and there were no more seats. i had pastors and old ladies cursing me out to the high heavens in the lobby because there weren't any seats left

i mean these pastors knew every 4-letter word in the book like "what the fuck do you mean there are no seats left" and "why the hell isn't it playing in more auditoriums"
i swear to god this was pastors cursing at me. and when the movie was over, they congregated in the hallways just like they do at church. nobody could get into the auditoriums and we basically had to have our police officers escort them all out.

If you're going to be culturally selective on the kind of service you give then you don't deserve a tip at all. You're the one serving them.

the title and some of your wording has been pretty offensive to minorities, so expect a few impassioned responses. i hope you've recognized that you may exhibit some behaviors of your own that may effect your tips. my first boyfriend was tall, dark, thuggish, rough around the edges and the stereotypical gangster type that you yourself said you'd give less than your best service to. he's an engineer for mercedes so if you don't treat him like he's stupid for sagging his jeans he's likely to tip you very well. there are some people who wear suits and ties to work who are horrible people. there are some people who wear raggedy t-shirts and torn jeans that are the nicest people you'll meet. when you start serving EVERYONE fairly and not just people in armani suits with briefcases, you may find that 90% drop. i apologize if some of the responses have been cutting, but you open yourself when you imply that a certain ethnicity engages in wrong behavior, there are probably restaurants with all-white clientele that tip poorly.

no i got it....what im saying to you is you obviously had an abnormal experience with serving...saying everyone pretty much tipped you the same across the board....well great for you...but that is NOT how the real world works......i certainly didnt make up the reputation that ethnics tip bad.,...it didnt come out of the air. My coworkers complaing about the 2percent tip they got earlier....didnt just get imagined

Nahh I know marley. I understand, it was a pretty point-blank question and if i was a minority and tipped i would be irriated. But Im not, im on the other end, and just like people complain about having to tip "that white girl". I can complain about people not tipping enough

This thread is just getting too offensive to handle at this point.
