| | | Obama. I also voted for him in the PA primaries.
I also grew up in a very racist, homophobic, intollerant, hate-mongering church (they even said Pokemon was a thing of the devil, when it was new). The church was owned by my Grandfather, who was also th emain preacher with my father and uncles under him. Somehow I'm into the other races a lot and I'm gay. O_o Sooo I don't give a crap about what he grew up with.
Also, having almost all female friends in my life and being raised primarily around women.. and mostly working for/under women... I'm more inclined to vote for a male. >_> I suppose I have a sliver of mysoginy?

As a democrat you should know this is not the time, in history and the state of our world, to trust the most powerful position in the world to John Mccain. There will be 1000's of more American lives lost and 10's of thousands of Iraqi lives lost nevermind the prospect of wa[r] with Iran. Is that what you really want? | Ya know, citing Code Pink's histrionics in the course of chastising others for drinking Clinton's Kool-Aid doesn't help your argument much.
Just how many Iraqi lives do you suppose will be lost if the U.S. precipitously withdraws? Would you prefer to deal with Iran now or when they've got nukes and have taken over Iraq? Obama's offer to play pattycake with our enemies is naive, if not downright frightening. We may note how well it worked for Carter in his recent effort to 'reason' with Hamas. Quote:

Much of the shit we're currently dealing with can't be laid at Bush's feet alone (but I suppose he is an easy scapegoat for the simpletons among us). Example: The Democrats won big in Nov. '06, due in part by saying something needed to be done about the 'high' price of gasoline (which was hardly 'high' compared to current). The price of oil has more than doubled since they 'took charge'. Great job, guys.

| | | And El Bush the Younger had all that vast experience lording over Texas pretending to be governor. So, these days one needs to be a governor to qualify as a potentially good president? I'll just be happy to have the next president be a person who can read. Both Democrats running for their party's nomination can read. That's good enough for me.
Oh, and as for laying all the current shit at Bush's feet that we're currently dealing with? Sure we can. How many times has he claimed "God" is responsible for his being the current President and that "I am in charge!" El Arbusto is an absolute tool. The current buck for our current problems stops at the current President's desk (and Cheney's to help read the BIG words).
So, when I return to the USA in November to vote does that mean my vote for the Democratic candidate counts twice as valuable since the trust fund baby isn't going to vote?

umm....excuse me? Yeah the Dems won big in 06....however they didn't win control of anything. The Dem's have been trying to pass bill after bill trying to help the average joe, but the war mongering, money, hungry, sexually perverted Republicans fillibustered and kept many if not all of these bills from passing. I mean for Christs sake, the majority of them were against raising minimum wage. You are right however, about not blaming Bush for everything. All he is is some retarded imbred jackass who signs or vetos bills. You want to blame the war on anyone, blame it on Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, who have be planning on invading Iraq since the 70's when they both became active in national politics. The problem with our current government, is they have taken capitalism to the extreme. They've made it next to impossible for the average person to get by, but have put so much money into the hands of the wealthy, who have no financial worries at all, and just throw away this excess money in Hummers, and yachts, and buying small man made islands off the cost of Dubai, UAE. Our infrastructure is crumbling, we are in serious debt to a country who has no values as far as human rights are concerned, the US dollar's value is plumitting, inflation is outrageously high, gasoline is so high and daily getting higher, to the point that soon (I'll wager when gas hits a little over $4 a gallon), the average American citizen will no longer be able to survive. We all think that those who lived thru the Great Depression had it bad. Well when our economy screetches to a halt, because people can no longer get to work, or afford to buy food....well God help us all.
Oh and saying that the poster hates America because he said something about becoming an expatriot....well that was a low blow man. I'm sure he, like many others (including myself) are ashamed of what this country has turned into. It used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave, the place where people came to escape terriany, religious persecution, and succeed, as they never could before in their homelands....well, this country is no longer that way. Greed and fear have taken over, common sense has been cast aside, and the people whos ancestors founded this great country, can no longer carry their heads high in the air with pride.

Inflation is not "outrageously high"... compare to the mid-70's and early-80's before you go spouting that drivel. And you're actually going to liken the current situation to teetering on the brink of another Great Depression? Give me a break. Unemployment is still ~5%... it was > 25% then. Interest rates are still historically low. Taxes... low. Get a clue. Quote: |

And I don't want to hear any bellyaching about what a mess Bush left for him, either. Current problems, current president... I've got it. Do you actually believe the shit you're saying? Quote: |

| No, but it counts the same as mine, and that's certainly an unappealing reality. | | | |

Get real. | So, in order for a person to love America they also have to love its government even if it's the cause of the country's downward spiral? If that's the case, then there's more ex-patriots out there because the current approval rating of the current administration and Bush is very low. Around 28% as of April. Which means 72% of our current population should all be forced to move to Canada since, in your view, it's impossible to love a country without loving its government. That makes no sense.
Having love for something doesn't mean also having a blind eye to its flaws, despite learning to tolerate it to some degrees. There's plenty of things to love America and everyone knows this. That's why so many people come into this country but don't leave. However, one of the things not to love about America is about how the current people in charge are screwing things up. Criticizing your government does not make you a turncoat, nor is it grounds for excommunication. That is, unless, you feel it's OK if our country follows the scrpiture known as Lord Of The Flies.

excuse me sir. Who gave you the authority to be an asshole? I was being civil and speaking my mind. I never insulted you or what anyone else said. I just stated my opinion like many others here, and you have to go around talking down to me and others.....You sir are the one who needs to wake up and smell the coffee, and pull your head out of your ass. Just guessing by your replys to others posts, you don't have to worry bout making ends meet. You probably are financially comfortable and in your view, things are great in this country. Well buddy, things are not great. The only reason interest rates are low, is because the stupid gov't keeps lowering rates to try and stabalize the economy. The value of the dollar is crap. (no offence to Canadians, as I love your great country) The Canadian dollar has more value than the US$. We are selling our ports and roads to foreign countries, because we can no longer maintain them.
I apoligize to everyone for loosing my cool here, but I'm tired of people coming into civil discussions and bullying others around. Just because you disagree with what others have posted....well that doesnt give you permission to come in like a raging asshole and treat others opinions as inferior. Una
