I think people are congratulating him because he's 18yo and had his first sexual experience with another person and he enjoyed it. To be honest, if he were my son and shared that with me, I would definitely mention using condoms for intercourse and warning him about putting himself in situations where he may be accused of anything, but I would thank him for being open with me and congratulate him on his first sexual experience as well.
No the sex he had wasn't "safe" per se but it also wasn't "dangerous". I would be a hypocrite if I started to chastise him for something that occurs in my own life. I presume Marley and Ms. Teacher that every person you've engaged in oral sex with has been using protection and that you knew each of your partner's histories and had proof of what they say--because people lie.

Yes, std's are very much a reality of the world. But reasonableness needs to enter the equation as well. People are going to have sex, few people will use protection with oral sex and few people will ever truly know their partner's sexual histories. The only truly safe sex is masturbation or someone would have to choose celibacy. I'm not going to stop having experiences because of what if's. Who would leave the house? There are what if's with a million things and can't be bound by fear.

But sexually his experience isn't any different than the majority of people's experience in the world--so if you're going to chastise him, then you're going to chastise everyone, repeatedly and grab yourself a mirror, cause you might need to have a real heart to heart with yourself too.

The house I live in is made of glass, you people who live in houses made of steel are lucky--your foundations are unbreakable but I'm afraid it makes it difficult for you to truly see what's beyond your walls.

Thanks for that, Hyper. I was thinking very much the same myself. The guy's 18, folks. He's sure to have had some sort of Sex Ed. at school and 'sharing' here is also a good way for him to get our opinions and advice, none of which has been bad or inappropriate for a guy his age.

Keep up the good 'tongue' practice, dude. From my conversations with the ladies, many of the bi/straight guys just don't do it or don't do it well or don't enjoy it. Keep this up and you'll be very very popular in or out (!) of that closet of yours!!!!

I'm not a hypocrite. I believe in condoms for oral or vaginal sex until mutual blood tests, then monogamy, followed by chucking the condoms. You can't tell just by looking at someone how "clean" they are. And asking a partner their history can sometimes be fruitless.

Why does everyone always say the only safe sex is masturbation or celibacy? LOL There is something called monogamy between two people who are clean of STD's and share current blood tests. For some reason I thought the members of this site were up on all the new things, but I'm reading a lot of antiquated responses that come from the 1950's when everything was innocent.

I could chastise the others but they're adults. It's not going to matter much to them, but the callous responses to an 18 year old are unnerving.

If he's had sex ed at school he didn't learn much or they didn't tell him enough. Or maybe he just got caught up in the moment. Whatever the reason, what he did was not all that safe. If she's a virgin like he said he was, then it was safe sex.

I don't necessarily agree that entering into a monogamous relationship is 100% safe, unlike masturbation or celibacy, which are 100% sexually safe. Monogamy is taken on faith. You have to trust that your partner stays monogamous. Not everyone does. Many many people cheat--that's a fact and we all know it. And cheating occurs in relationships where people think there is no cheating. So if you chuck condoms and your partner cheats and picks up something, you might get it. So you're not 100% safe, you're living with calculated risks. You take the chance that your partner is honest. I know plenty of people who have become HIV poz because they believed they were in monogamous relationships and their partner lied.

So all you've done is accept the risk, minimize the chance of something going wrong and hope that it all works out well. The OP accepted the risk, choose oral sex without a condom to intercourse without a condom and hopes that his pee doesn't burn. Despite what you wrote, he's 18, legally an adult and he made an adult decision and he will live with the consequences. Just like billions of adults.

If you really think monogamy makes you immune to the potential of stds then you're as naive as you're claiming we are for believe that oral sex without a condom is a safer sex than intercourse without a condom. You want immunity, masturbate or don't have sex with anyone ever. That seems to work well for priests, oh wait...

Of course monogamy is taken on faith. If you're not together 24 hours a day you wouldn't know if your partner was cheating on you. On the other hand, I could hook up with a different guy every night of the week and wonder every morning what I may have caught the night before. I'll take monogamy.

I respect what your saying Ms. Teacher, but with all the advice I got on this site, I decided to go ahead and do it. It was just oral sex, I have known her like for 10 years, she is a virgin, well actual intercourse virgin.
