Dear phe,

There's an old saying you may wish to consider:

"It's better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and proof it."

On some issues Canadians have a different set of values than Americans. You may not respect some of our values as I might not respect some of your's, but I respect your right to have them. I expect no less from you. I don't believe capital punishment is morally right. Our government has the right to hold a fugitive from a foreign country if they would face possible death in their own country.

In regards to our national health, there are certainly problems which I hope will be corrected but at least in Canada no one has to declare bankruptcy because they can't pay their medical bills. Some Canadians do travel to the US for medical treatment. That's a choice they can make. At times our health system sends people to the US for treatment but their bills are covered by our health plan. There have also been many cases of American citizens moving to Canada, staying until they qualify for our health coverage, get they treatment then move back to the US. And guess who pays the bill?

I haven't read all of the posts...sorry if this has already been mentioned....but I would have no problem if the murderers would go to Canada to do their killing...Heck I'm for emptying death row in most states and sending them all there....along with the molestors and rapists.

Then everything would be ok...right?

They could store them in all the empty halls for Canadian War Heroes...since they are empty.

I would trade it all for just a little more - Montgomery Burns.

Or maybe they would become law-abiding, since our citizenry is so much less violent.

No, not empty.
But Americans simply don't know such facts about other nations.
And nothing wrong with that.
You are in a sense a center of the universe ... and that would make almost anyone, Canadians no less than Americans, a bit oblivious of the wider world.

But do we actually have halls for Canadian War heroes? I don't think so. I think our monuments are pretty much all outdoors.
Now, there's the Canadian War Museum ... but it's not all about the heroics of war, westy.
Not sure you would understand that.

My GOD....how have I missed the Garden of Eden north of our border? No wonder murders, sniveling French wannabes, and draft dodgers love it there....

Well, well, well.

Dear little Westy, aren't you just precious!

Empty halls for Canadian War Heroes? There so much I could say right now that would prove you wrong, but instead I'll just make one comment.

Read the old saying in post #31.

Not nearly as many murders as in your country.
Sniveling French wannabes? If you mean the seven million Canadians who are native speakers of French, I'm not sure there's anything 'wannabe' about them.
Draft dodgers? Sure ... they're all American.
Often very principled and accomplished people.

In no sense a Garden of Eden ... just a civilized Western country with the degree of civility that is normal and expected ... in Europe, say.

You see that is where you just totally lost any credibility. Insults are the sure sign of an argument lost.

I'll let you do the (not very heavy) heavy lifting, Davey.

Is it made worse or just more laughable by the fact that he can't even manage baisc agreement on the verb to do?

Half of the people can be part right all of the time,
Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time
I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I said that. [Bob Dylan]

Westy dear,

If you're referring to my post, je suis anglaise. (I am English.)

You insult an entire country which happens to be mine and you honestly think people won't react?

To quote Metallica, "Kill'em All"

If the US wants them dead then send them home, like that Ng cocksucker from California who cost me tax money to be holed up in Canadian prison for years while the families of his victims did not get justice.

And for the record Westy, if you can read this far, Canadians have living war heroes because we train our soldiers rather than just equip them. As an ex-Army officer, and a Canadian I would like to hear your "war heroics" outside of the internet battles of wits that you obviously win hands-down.

Back for more. Hello Ladies!
