minoxidil works... for the right type of loss

Hey, I just wanted to say, I have been using minoxidil for about 5 months, and the little thin patch in the back of my head is all but gone.

On the box, it will tell you the type of loss it works on, and if you have that type, (thin in back, but no or little receeding hair line), then I can say for experience, it is worth the $10 - $15 a month if you are worried about it.

the non-generic version is Rogaine, allthough I have used both rite-Aids and Walgreens store brand with no problems.

the only side effect i have had is sometimes it itches very mildly.

I've heard it works quite well for some... but it's important to catch baldness earlier than later, otherwise it's a softer/lighter hair that doesn't grow in well. A best friend of mine, takes the oral (just goog'd: finasteride) and what was a "skull cap" of 50% of hair, is pretty much filled in... slightly thinning still there. I scoffed at him, and told him to go the shave route, but over time even I noticed it was filling in. Trippy, trippy, we've solved baldness, softies, and pregnancy, but the damn cancer thing still is floatin' about....

Oh, but he can't give blood or plasma.

I want something for the temples and hairline. :c

I was confronted with hairloss at the age of 16. Went to several docters and specialists and ended up by having Minoxidil prescribed which I took for years. After a few months the loss stopped and a couple of months later the hair came back.
I took it for years and it used to cost me a fortune (about 25 U$ for every three weeks.)
I have not taken it for many years now but the side effect which New End describes still remains. The Minoxidil has affected my skin which still itches quite regulary.
General notice here: I admit it is worth its money but ... take into account the irritation of the skin which you might get. If you take it a long time, that iritation might not go away that easily.

The minoxidil comes in 2 dosages. If you itch switch to the lower dosage it doesn't itch. My brother did that. Also rite Aid has great buy one get one free deals and for the price of one bottle you can get 4. The Rite Aid boxes have 2 bottles each. Go generic...it's the SAME stuff. THAT's quite a savings.
