HELP!!!

okay i STILL haven't gotten my w2's from either one of my jobs. i've twice made calls requesting that they be sent out (i have moved since my employment with both jobs and am sure that they were sent to me previous address, even though i notified both jobs and filled out an official change of address form). i still haven't gotten them and i really don't think the irs will care when my taxes for this year aren't filed. what should i do??

I hope you mailed a form for postponing filing with a check for estimated amount owed by April 15. Then you have until Oct. 15.

You need to file for an extension, also sometimes The postal service will not forward W2s, in most cases you need to write to your employer as soon as you know your new address and also call them and physically tell them of your new address. For more help Internal Revenue Service or 1-800-829-1040 Monday through Friday 7am-10pm local time unless you live in Alaska or Hawaii then you must go by Pacific time. The IRS will be more than willing to help you

unfortunately i didn't request an extension so in addition to the penalties i'm going to receive, i'm also not getting the rebate check. this sucks. thanks for the help guys

Report them to the IRS. Meanwhile, if those companies have filed their forms with the IRS, the IRS will be able to send you your information so that you can file.

Make certain that you've filed an extension. Even if you are late, you will only be charged on a penalty from 4/15 to 5/5 (or so). Less than 1 month on a penalty (if you owe) is not so bad.
Do you have your last pay stub from the company? If so, it should contain a listing of cumulative taxes paid up to that point in time. A decent tax specialist (e.g. an H&R Block official or tax accountant) should be able to calculate how much tax was paid and whether you owe the IRS any more or less
Since you are a little late, you should probably take your case to an H&R Block tax preparer or similar service. You don't need to go overboard with a tax accountant, but a tax preparer would be useful. THey often think of deductions that you may not have. Example: a tuition/life-long learner credit, charitable donations... Sometimes a $50 investment in a tax preparation service will yield several hundred $$ in return, therefore you have a net gain. (Trust me, I've often paid $150+ for my tax preparation for a return of several thousand dollars).

Trouble with your driver's license & jail, now you want to take the IRS on for a delinquent tax return ? When you look back on this, 2008 is going to be a rough year for you.

you're telling me. add that with my getting laid off and it's not looking pretty but i'm trying to be optimistic. i don't think i can take on the IRS, at best they'll be slightly forgiving for my late return
