I would accept my fate, perhaps even ask how much the job paid and it'd better be good because of all the lousy night shift hours and lack of social life thrown into the mix. I am getting pretty fit and so I think I would stand a good chance against vampires and lesser demons, but not so much foes like Spike or Angelus or even Faith if she went rogue again.

Buffy and crew never fascinated me. My son and daughter liked it. But I bit my lip many many times watching it with them. I did not want to tell them I found it a bit too sanitized for "real" vampires. I didn't want to put them down for having an interest.

I've just started watching Buffy and have the complete DVD set. In answer, hmmmm, I think I would have been either A bitten by a vamp and be the Vamp version of a used car/coffin salesman or B the sexual bitch slave of Buffy or willow or Cordelia. I also have a desire for Buffy's Mom and think I would like to be spanked by Drusilla. But a slayer? Nah I'm a total pussy so no.

knowing me, i'll be the one guy who tries to run away from a vampire, fall down, and then get bitten. i don't know what's wrong with me, but i seem to have a disposition to fall down.

Buffy accepts but does not relish her calling. She fights because she must, not because she wants to; she was made to be the Slayer, and her choice was that or death.

I would probably be the same; I would not go willingly.

Perhaps it's a shame that the same holds true for everyday heroism; that I would only under duress and extreme circumstance, throw myself in the line of fire, lay down the sandbag amidst the rising tide, or trip-up the fleeing bank robber. Or even more mundane heroics. Since most of Buffy is metaphor, perhaps that was the message; indeed, it was only when everyone felt empowered that Buffy was finally able to lay down her fight...

Great show, btw. Season Six is one of the best of any show in TV history.
