I never gave the channel a chance but my little brother did. Whenever he had it on, it was some racially/sexually-degrading rap video.

Edit: Thanks for the link to the banned Boondocks episode! =D I love that show to death. <3

No... it is being run by an Ivy League trained lawyer who is all about the benjamins. That is mainly what Robert Johnson was about when he owned it. This isnt PBS.

You would be hard pressed to find any tv channel that hasn't gone down the shithole in the last ten years. All of them are in a frentic attempt to attract viewers who now have far more choices than they did 10 years ago. Unfortunately it's the lowest common denomiator that we are working with. How else could Fox News end up the #1 cable news network?

Consider yourself lucky. What if your remote broke on the Lifetime Network?

that's what my mom used to punish me with. if i did something that was bad but not whoopin-worthy, she'd make me sit in her room and watch lifetime with her. wait a minute, i wonder if that's the cause of my homosexuality. brb, gotta call mama

Not sure if I find BET embarassing so much as loathesome.

I stopped watching BET soon after they came on air, when I realized all of the music videos depicted light skinned black women as being desirable, educated, beautiful and or sophisticated. Whereas the darker skinned girls like myself were always depicted as cheap, scantily clad, jiggling ho's.

It's a shame BET couldn't have taken the high road and sought to negate or destroy negative stereotypes within the black American culture.
