| | | Notthe, seems like you know what the problem is! You need to pee more. And for that, you need to drink more. I would recommend that you start carrying a beverage or bottle of water around with you. Make sure you empty your water bottle a set number of times during the day. Personally, I find that room-temperature water is easier to drink in large amounts than cold.
If the anti-biotics are giving you ladies Yeastie Beasties (I am SO stealing that!) then you should try taking L. Acidophilus . It is a probiotic which will counter the negative side-effects of the prescription, as well as promote colon health. In fact, if you take a pill with at least one billion live, active organisms at time of manufacturing every day, you will probably never have a yeast infection again. I get lazy and don't always take mine. So, occasionally, I get a yeast infection. First I treat it with plain yogurt applied directly to the itching. Because it is nice and cool, the relief is instant. Then I take a four billion organism dose of the L. Acidophilus, and an Advil once every four hours until the infection is gone. The Advil treats pain, and itching is a pain. I find that with a low level of Advil in my system, I don't itch, which means I won't rub myself raw and have a whole new problem. This treatment usually works within three days for a really bad outbreak, or overnight for a minor one.

My wife is similar to some of you ladies who have posted here...she started developing UTIs when we began seeing one another. It was easy to correlate them to our sexual activity, as we were living in different cities and would see each other about every other weekend.
Her ob/gyn confirmed it...the UTIs were most likely caused by inflammation and irritation of the whole area around her urethra. She was asked about my size...nothing specific, but whether I was on the larger side. When she confirmed that, she said her doctor grinned and told her that yeah, big boys can be fun, but it usually came with this price for a lot of us.
Her doc's advice mirrored what's been posted here: drink lots of water, cranberry is only a mild preventative, pee immediately after sex (helps wash bacteria out of the urethral orifice), wipe front-to-back.
She's also apparently discussed it with my mom, so I'm now possessed with the reluctant knowledge that she has similar issues, and her doctor actually performed a urethral dilation that seemed to mitigate the problems. Can't say more about it...at this point, I stuck my fingers into my ears and started chanting Alouette...

| | | My wife has had the same problem as Hazelgod, with almost the same solution by her OB/GYN. We have found that if she stays off the top, cowgirl or reverse cowgirl, she does not have as many problems with UTI's.
Just my 2 cents, J. | | | |

| | | Ugh…I’m late coming to this thread but just wanted to give you some sympathy because I’ve been dealing with this the last few months…
I’ve gotten maybe 3-4 uti’s EVER (I am 33) and with my current boyfriend, I’ve also had 4 or so within 2 months. It’s very much related to sex for me but why so bad with this guy I have no idea. (I have wondered if it had anything to do with his size...but he's not that big, just bigger than average...)
I’ve done all the things: Drank lots of water, peed before and after sex (which is hard to do if you’re having a lot of sex like I was in the beginning of the relationship), took cranberry supplements morning and night, wipe front to back, they even told me not to wear thongs but I think that is bs because it’s not a problem when I’m not having sex… (Studies have shown cranberry to be effective in PREVENTING infection in the bladder because tannins in the fruit keep the bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall but will not cure an infection. I’d have to drink 2 8 oz glasses of juice for it to work, so I took supplements which still didn’t help…)
You need to be seen when you have one because they will do a culture to tell what kind of bacteria it is so they use the correct antibiotic.
For me, I am to the point I take one antibiotic pill when I have sex and that has helped.
Also, we discussed seeing a urogynecologist to see if there was a structural problem but since I haven’t had this problem like this in the past, she didn’t think that was the case.
They do not really understand why this happens related to sex. It is more likely with a new partner although again not understood why. I’m hoping it will go away eventually. It sucks. I hate taking pills and antibiotics.
Oh and as far as the on the top…not happening here because that’s the only way I come during sex!
Oh and get thee to the ob/gyn if not for the uti but for the pap!! Very important!

| | | Surprisingly, sitting on a cold surface can bring it on. Like a concrete park bench or a big rock. This is especially true in cold climates. | | | |

| | | I suffered badly with UTI's a few years ago and several courses of antibiotics were needed to shift them. Fortunately I've not had too many problems since then. I know the doctors got very excited about it because they were signed up to the medical textbook myth that men don't get water infections. Well I'm sorry but I know otherwise, both from my own experience and from other guys I've discussed it with. Whilst it's not effective as a treatment for the problem, I'm told cranberry juice is very good at deterring it in the first place as are cranberry tablets and antitis tablets. | | | |

| | | UTI Advice:
A) Drink a good deal of water -- frequent urination is a great way to keep the pipes in good order (most people are nowhere near the baseline for urination in a day)
B) Wipe front to back ... obviously.
C) Regulate the male hygiene before sexual intercourse
D) Cranberry juice is fine ... helps to change the pH of the urine which MOST bacteria do not like. Especially the common ones, some actually favor it though.
E) Female hygiene products need to be inserted and removed in timely fashion.
Hope that helps. | | | |

| | | 1. Drink alot
2. Shower before you stick it in; both parties
3. Don't wear tight fitting underwear
4. Don't put tight fitting underwear on right afterwards
5. Clean up after yourself; yeah you sweat, wipe some of it off
IF you get one:
1. Intaking Baking Soda and other antiacids will help prevent the burning
2. See a doc | | | |
