TheRob is | ok now that I have the input of everyone let me flip the script
everything I described is true with minor differences, differences are switch all male/female references in the above post
I had noticed when I brought these topics up with people the way they really are I was getting responces about "ignore it, toughen up, grow a set" but when I couch it as if women are the ones being persacuted suddently people say lawsuit lawsuit this is wrong!
sorry for the initial missleading you guys but now that you have commented did anyone's opinion change knowing it is males being discriminated against?
here I will give you the full story (with accurate male/female references this time) in the next post

TheRob is | location has been open just over a year like initially posted
true that it is a training store and promotion opportunities are relativly commmon
and true that no male has been promoted on the hourly level
(there was one male promoted at the very upper end of management, but it wasn't as much a promotion as it was a lateral move, tho still it wasn't local management that made that decission it was upper level management, and actually it's just how things go the person in the one job moves latterally to the other one when the person that had been in the other job moves on)
not one single male has been promoted in this store and men have been putting in for promotions
I am the male member of the staff that has had the General Manager tell me I am one of the best associates in the building (I have been passed over for promotion twice)
the project I was working on was the remodeling of another store, it was indeed a 4 million dollar project (it is possible it was high 3 million and it got rounded) and I put in for a promotion and they instead promoted a girl who is younger then me by 5 years (which is ok I don't mind a boss younger then me) but I have more retail expereience then she has by YEARS, I was litterally in my first retail job before she was in puberty
and she is a full time student, one of the requirements for the possition was to have Open Availability
a full time student is not openly available
I was told my interview was very good and had no problems, so if a perfect interview wasn't enough then the decision was effectivly made before my interview....that is a no no
I have indeed been told male workers are not permited in the womens fitting room despite women going into the men fitting rooms litterally whenever they feel like it (even if it is not to clean the fitting rooms out, just to walk through cus they feel like it) now there are signs posted in the mens fitting room that SAY only MALE workers will patrol the mens fitting room area....
to tell men they cannot go into womens areas becuase you just assume they are perverts is sexual discrimination (hours are given out to clean out fitting rooms, this means women get more hours then men get so it is financial as well but mostly just the disrespect)
I told a female coworker that it bothered me that she goes into the mens fitting room whenever she wants (she does not even work in the mens section and she has previously told me to stay out of the womens fitting room, so I explained that it made me feel like less then her as a person and I wanted her to respect me and stay out of the mens fitting room. she told me I needed to grow a set and then men don't care. I am sorry but if a woman thinks she can tell a man what he does and dosn't care about, she is retarded. I cannot do that to a woman so she cannot do that to me.
women regularly threaten to beat up male employees and numerous times I have had women tell me they will kick me in the groin and make kicking motions towards my groin (the foot travels most times up past my knee so it isn't a minor nonthreatening action, it nearly connects)
women talk about wanting male strippers to stop by and a member of the managment staff offered to hire a male stripper for a female worker if she'd stay late one day....
two women sat in the breakroom and talked about how they'd like to see a black male coworker in a speedo so they could see "if it was true what they say" right in front of me they have this conversation
so is everyones opinion still the same?
or is there a double standard?

Have you ever heard of a woman being arrested for spying in someone's window? Peeping Tom's are usually men.
Or how about a woman being arrested for masturbating in public? You can say not many women masturbate in public, which is probably true, but I don't think I've ever read of one being arrest for it.
And how about men who put hidden cameras in ladies locker rooms or fitting rooms? Are women putting hidden cameras in men's locker or fitting rooms?
And let's not forget the guys who attach cameras to their shoes in an attempt to take pics up girls skirts.
Yes, I think men are more apt to be pervs than women. As far as your company goes, things are not on the up and up there.

Symphonic is | If it's not one side it's another...
I had the same thing happen in a store I worked in, only reversed; I and other men were the one's to be harrassed and women ruled the store. To be honest I don't think this will ever really change. |
People who do not have penises should have no say; this is the opinion of the Tribune.

| You won't find what you don't look for. This concept is nothing new is it? It's like the idea of women raping men, or other women for that matter; it's "unheard of" because no one looks for it. Using a stereotype to fund the news, and of course profit, is all part of the media gig. Quote: | And how about men who put hidden cameras in ladies locker rooms or fitting rooms? Are women putting hidden cameras in men's locker or fitting rooms? | Who knows? I wouldn't put it past them; it's just like the idea that women don't like / watch porn. Please. I'm sure just as many voyeurs exist in the female population as in the male, and to be honest it's pretty gutsy for either gender to place cameras somewhere. Men are more likely to do it, as they are more likely to take risks and act alone without the consultation of others. Quote: | And let's not forget the guys who attach cameras to their shoes in an attempt to take pics up girls skirts. | Never even heard of that; I'm sure it happens though, but as it is socially unacceptable for men to really wear dresses I won't say women do it, but they do have their equivalents such as purposefully trying to flirt with a guy to size him up which in truth is a form of voyeurism, especially if they've no interest in the male. Flirting, Seduction, refusal to take "No" for an answer, the Stereotype that men always want sex, etc. They happen to just be covers and work well to keep female "perversion" out of the spotlight. and women not being PUNISHED for something is not the same as women not doing it
how about flashers? I'd prefer not to get into this with you as I will need to be getting into it with the company shortly, the bottom line is any uneven relationship in the work place is sexual bias

How many porn magazines are there for women? Playgirl? And I hear that's mostly for gay men. How many women are on here compared to men? How many women do you see renting porn flicks in the back room of a video store? If you go to porn shops, do you see as many men there as women? Quote:

You don't get it. You can't even compare women and men when it comes to voyeurism, flirting, seduction, and everything that encompasses. I give up! Quote:

What I was trying to stress is that there are far more men raping, peeping, flashing, and molesting than women. It's a fact. Check out arrest and prison statistics. Quote:

TheRob is | I already explained to you arrest and prison isn't the same
you can see clearly that when women are convicted of sex based crimes they get punished at a fraction of what a man would get, which also equates to them not going to prison often, just house arrest or even a bad fine...
also forget not the social stigma of a man having been bested by a woman, often a man will not report it
dosn't mean it didn't happen
still waiting on the other women who were very vocal when it was women being persacuted but are apparently ok with men being discriminated against?
is it ok for my female coworkers to make threatening gestures towards my groin?
would appear you feel it is, if you feel otherwise please speak up

It happens all the time, TheRob, in all sorts of industry. Sometimes, a company favors men regardless of aptitude; another company will favor women; another will favor one race or another over all others; and yet another will favor untalented sycophants. All of them are ethically wrong for it. I have never understood it from a pragmatic angle: I don't really care about non-related attributes. If I'm in charge, I want the most capable person in the position. Period. If my job were making the company thrive and turn profit, my only concern is going to be putting the right people in the right places to make that happen.

That's where you find little self-interested fiefdoms in a corporate structure, far enough down the ladder that their day-to-day operations don't directly affect the company's performance, yet high enough up that they don't really fear reprisal from the mothership.
It's the Peter Principle in action. Such types aren't really operating with the best company performance in mind...just looking to keep their little organization in line with how they want it.

Ed69s girl is | TheRob I have to admit my responds is the same in both situation you need to get out of there pal. The place is fucked up no matter how you look at it. Unfortunately in todays society women always banned together and lawsuits are there favorite when they feel that they are being wronged. It is safe to say after all the responses that Womens lib has done it job and to honest I feel womens lib is the stupidest thing that ever happen. That fact the women feel they are superior to men is bullshit. Men need to start fighting to get there rights back because if they don't they will end up being flush down the drain. I don't get along with other women to well because of my stand. It is also why I don't watch sitcoms because men are always put in the dumb role and women always smarter.
Today moms don't teach there daughter to respect their fathers and literal use there sons has servant to make sure the now there place. The world we live in now is messed up.
There use to be time were a person was promoted based on the job the did. Women had respect for a men and women were never allowed in male dressing rooms and vice versa. In fact boys couldn't use the women dressing room after they turn five. Now we have co-ed showers at gyms and womens only work out clubs. So shouldn't there be mens only work out clubs but of course women would have hissy over that as will. Hell look what happen to golf, a gal threw a tatrum over a mens only golf course on the PGA tour. We live in a very one side society that in my book just ain't fair.
Although I will admit you upset me a bit about not being forth right in what is really going on at work. I felt the deceiption was wrong but understand the point you are trying to make. I think it is totally obviously that there is a double standard.

dolfette is | first, i would not shop in a store that allowed males into the female changing area.
i just wouldn't feel safe getting naked with men walking around.
i doubt many men would have safety fears...they might blush but they wouldn't feel unsafe.
it's got fuck all to do with assuming all men are preditory.
the rest is utterly shitty though. if you can record it, complain & sue. it's the only way to change things. | i'm an obese, 40y/o trucker, with a BO problem and only 5 of my own teeth left, using pics i stole off the internet. still want to pm me?

kadtxgrl is | Wow,
Just got back from a ladies retreat this weekend and I see this post has been all switched around.
The reason I responded to your post the way I did earlier when I assumed it was discrimination towards women is because I am in the South.....and there is and always has been a good ole boy's society down here.....although it may not be as strong as it has been in the past. Promoting men before women has always been the way it has always been down here. Men are seen as the bread winners for the family......and anything women make is gravy. Although in my adult lifetime I have seen more changes......more affirmative action and such. And companies trying to do the right thing.
I am curious about the department store you work for. It must have a mission statement to help and promote women. Where do you work? Lane Bryant? Mary Kay Cosmetics?
If I were you (a male) I don't think I would feel comfortable working in the environment that you describe. And you have the same choices if it was reversed like you described in the beginning. Complain......get the men to band together and file a harrassment suit. Nobody should have to endure being threatened with physical harm. (kicked in the balls etc) | Hippie Hollow girl.

Sue or change jobs....that is the only options I see. Free world and all...even in the south. |
