You are right about that. Pumping is pretty common on adult sets and most male adult stars use them before shooting. I've used them in the scenes I've done as well. I'm a long term pumper anyway. But you got to remember on a shoot - you are waiting around for the lights, the camera, the set, and the girl (that can take forever sometimes)- her makeup etc - and then you need to be ready to shoot in a second when they are ready.
