MALE CATHETERS- Internal or external

Just wondering if anyone uses a catheter on a daily basis because they are so busy they don't have to worry about bathroom breaks ?. This of course does not include those who use catheters for medical reasons. If yes, where the hell do you buy them.

internal sounds like a health risk.
and they should really only be put in by qualified nurses using sterile equipment.

The internal ones yes if you do not know what u r doing then they can be a risk. However the condom caths are actually quite safe, you put them on in the morning and take them off at nite. They just what they sound like u put them on like a condom and there is a open tip at the bottom where the leg bag attaches

I just carry a bucket with me at all times.

I've had to be catheterized before. I do not recommend it unless medically necessary.

There are several places on the web to buy them if you can’t get them locally. I prefer foley caths myself but some prefer intermittent and others the external condom type. All three types are easy to use but if you don’t know someone who uses them or a nurse to teach you proper techniques do your homework and absolutely learn how first. If you go with internal type, most typically start out with a 16 or 18fr size and then increase in size until you find the one that fits you best. Larger size internal catheters massage the prostate and usually end up causing rather large amounts of prostate fluid oozing out as well.
