Security Breach At Heathrow Airport - Man runs onto runway with rucksack
It's reassuring to know that all the money we fork over for airport security is being well spent.

The Irish are close to being the least of my worries, at least in that regard.
I am however, rather more worried that every pub may eventually become an Irish pub.
Outside of the Republic (with the possible but debatable exception of the North) I have yet to be in an 'Irish' pub owned/run by an Irish person. Those on the continent I've made the error of visiting seem mostly to have been owned by ex-cons from Surrey!

Probably very true.
There is one in Lusaka, call O'Hagans. They fly Guinness in once in a while, so I'm told.
How did he manage to scale the perimeter fence? They should either electrify it or cover the top in barbed wire or have roving patrols of people with giant guns... Hmph.
That's without the demostrators of course. I called my friend who explained it wasn't so bad as reported, of course on the phone I couldn't tell if he had his fingers crossed!
T5 is enough to make anyone's blood boil if they're stuck there, but you'd think Naomi would have learnt to keep her temper by now.
My other half flew out of there the day it opened, fortunately only with hand luggage as the flight was delayed for three hours because of hold luggage problems. They eventually took off without luggage. His flight back that evening was cancelled and he had to spend the night in a hotel. His return flight the next day was held up again.
Boy, did BA shoot themselves in the foot with this one. They were advised to move operations there gradually over a few weeks to minimise the possibility of the problems they've had but they ignored this advice.
I certainly won't be flying BA from Heathrow any time soon.
I was watching a report on airport security several months back. At Montreal airport, the journalist was able to freely go in and out of a "secured" area without ever being stopped or noticed. She did this for 8 hours on three seperate days. Not once was she stopped by the RCMP or airport security. She had it all on film, made the Canadian airport look like total asses.. Transport Canada had of course no comment on the issue. So I agree where exactly does the money go to, because it's not perimeter safety.
