Masturbating is healthy, if you don't overdo it and become a pathological neurotic.

Research has shown that men who masturbate once a day have 50% less risk of having a heart attack than men who do it only once per week. (It's not the act of masturbating that keeps your heart young and strong; it's the other way around, men with healthy hearts and blood circulation have better, stronger and more frequent erections, making them to jerk off more often).

If you become obsessed though, it may begin to impact your social life and that wouldn't be nice. Because a good social life is even more strongly correlated to health: good social relations make you live much much longer than lonesome narcissists.

In that case I'd try some buddhist meditation techniques to learn to focus on something else. Don't consult a shrink, that's for bourgeois losers only.
