Obama and Hillary: Who won the Calf. debate

For me it was a draw until the last 30 minutes when the subject turned to the war in Iraq. Then it was Obama who won. Hillary still has trouble with squirmy explanations on her

is part of a discussion in the Et Cetera, Et Cetera forum that includes topics on Off-topic postings, current events, rants and raves....

For me it was a draw until the last 30 minutes when the subject turned to the war in Iraq. Then it was Obama who won. Hillary still has trouble with squirmy explanations on her vote to authorize the war, against the Levin amendment, and for the declaration of the Iranian Rebublic guard as a terrority entity(which was basically sabre rattling at the country of Iran).

I can't comment on the debate because I didn't watch it.
C'moooon you should know why, its because there are so many fucking haters on lpsg, who for whatever reason have nothing but hate in their blood. You shouldn't hate anyone that much unless they did something with the intent to hurt you or someone in your family. All I can see that she has done was stand by her man while this country was a prosperous place and we were happy. But hate is a strong emotion and will override all.

Things that set people off:

First, she's married to Bill. For some people that is the ultimate downer. People who can't stand him know that for years of her means four years of him.

Her voice sounds like a shrill elementary school principal trying to lecture a bunch of snickering boys who have just released 100 frogs in the biology lab. Four years of that could be torture.

Sometimes she seems to think she is black because she can do a really horrible bizarre southern accent, usually in churches, that sounds like Larry the Cable guy doing a blackface minstrel routine. I guess it's cuz she's been told that she is married to the "first black president", supposedly.

Everything will become politically correct. Everything that is mildly disagreeable will become "hateful". Instead of living in towns we will be suddenly living in "villages" and you have to be raised by "the village."

But above all she could be viewed as a huge delusional hypocrite. One moment she is not "the female candidate" and the next moment she is. It is so clear that she is entirely dependent on her husband and she has been since day one. It's hyper-traditional in the end: the woman pretends to be independent, "experienced", etc., but all of it is based on him. He even has to go out there and be her attack dog. If she were Hillary Smith it might be a historical moment, but it's really just woman married to an important man -- an important man who doesn't even seem to respect women. And of course she continues to stand by her man, just like the cookie-baking women she always makes fun of.

Just some ideas.

An exaggeration, but, largely true when she raises her voice. I have to allow that I don't like her voice.

------

Skull, you have a valid point about "haters".

Most interesting...so people do elect the nation's president based on those highly rational criteria.

I now understand how "W" got elected, with that All-American swagger and all...

I personally don't like Obama's hair. It lacks sheen and we can't run our fingers through it...

So I guess I have no choice but vote for Hillary.

Damn!

i get your point -- and agree. i was sort of mixing ideas there. i was mainly trying to point out why some people can't stand her but it sort of morphed into why people might not vote for her. or both. i guess it's hard to tell where the line is drawn between annoying characteristics and things that really matter.

Hillary is 1 of about 5 of the most intellegent people who ever ran for the office. I love the enthusiasm of all the young people. This country is going to swing way way left over time again. It has to or we will be living like the Chinese or Russians soon. People have to start caring about each other again.

i had a long answer to this originally, but I think it would be just easier to say i disagree with the "1 out of about 5" comment. just take a look at a list of presidents and start to add up how many who MUST be categorized as more intelligent than Hillary. then you could move to a list of people who ran and didn't make it. i'm not sure how high should be on that list, either.

also -- China is way LEFT not right (although Russia i guess is way Right). in the end, extremes of left and right get you to the same place.
