Wrong. Statutory rape is sexual intercourse with a person who is below the legal age of consent regardless of whether or not that person entered into the sexual act willingly, gave permission, or did not resist.

The legal age of consent in California is 18 and in Louisiana it is 17.

I've lived in Louisiana so I know this for sure.

I was not advocating for the guy to get hit with statutory rape charges I was simply pointing out a media bias between his case and a case in the past.

Please, if you don't know what you're talking about, at least do your research before you post.

I was rushed for time when I created that sticky. On top of a couple inappropriate comments regarding Spears Jr. there was a post stating that the bf was 17. I didn't have time to google his age, hence the original content of the sticky.

I've edited it to something that I hope all can agree to and abide by.

I said MOST states. The fact that the overall age is 16, is reason enough why the media isn't pushing a rape case around. Also, it has been brought up in the media. They were two kids bumping uglies. What, are we going to put the baby daddy in jail now? Give me a break. They're two years a part in age. Society is not going to get bent out of shape about the age more than they're going to get bent out of shape about a 16 year old getting knocked up. In the South, I'm sure they're happier knowing that the girl wasn't knocked up by a relative, no offense. The girl and her family are as white trash as you can get. Why would we expect any different from these two?

Preggers? That word needs to be outlawed already. Yuck. Unless you're a British Chav, Americans should not lower themselves to such a ridiculous term.
