7AM this morning the phone rang, I answered it before I started my routine day of work hoping that it didn't wake up my wife. I answered it softly and the voice on the other end started talking and basically for the next 15 minutes wouldn't shut up so I just let her ramble and it was kinda funny. The worst I ever had was when somebody called to complain that I'd filled his order wrong. Seems he got french fries instead of onion rings. I let him vent for a while before I told him that he had the wrong number.

I got something similar years ago. Early Sunday morning the phone rang, picked it up and a somewhat familiar voice greeted me with "Hey, man, how's it going?"

I answered him jokingly trying to place the voice. Then he went on saying something like "listen, man, tell your wife that I know she's going through a lot of trouble with dinner today, but I just got a call from the West Coast and I gotta be there in the morning for an interview, so I won't be able to make it over today. I hope she won't be pissed or anything, but tell her I'll make it up to her later."

OK, wrong number for sure as we had no plans to have anyone over that day, but I just answered "No prob, man. Good luck with the interview and don't worry about the wife. She'll be fine and just happy for you."

When I hung up my wife asked who it was on the phone. I told her I didn't know, but some woman is going to be real pissed off around dinner time.

I once got a Mexican threatening to beat me up and shit, I told him he had the wrong number, then he got pissed at me.. and threatened to find me and beat me up. Then I told him he could come smoke a bowl instead, and he remaind belligerent for abotu another 3 mintues before laughing and saying hwe was just fuckign with me, to which I said I was just fucking with him, and we hung up.

Years ago the phone book printed my phone number as the number for a local stable. I got tired saying "wrong number" and took the bookings for horses and private lessons instead. It went on for about 3 years.

I got yelled at by an asian women last month I picked up the phone and she just started belting at me. for a min I tried to tell her wrong number but she didnt seem to wanna listen to who ever she thought I was. I kept hanging up and she kept calling. twice more i tried to tell it was a wrong number but never heard so I just started picking and dropping it. finally I had to leave it off the hook. The next day a looked at my answering machine after work and the message on it was her going I'm SO SORRRRRRY over and over and over and over.

My number is very close to the exchange number and people misdial me all the time trying to reach a local massage therapist. People leave messages asking to cancel, reschedule, or make appointments. It's really annoying and one person was so persistently dialing the wrong number I called them back and told them the reason they weren't getting a call back wasn't that the masseuse was ignoring them.

I once dialed a local number and somehow managed to get connected to a woman vacuuming her living room in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The telco blamed it on a switching problem.
