When i was about 20 years old, somewhere around 1990, I got a call from a female friend around 9 in the evening. I was already out of the shower and I was living with my parents at the time. We talked for about an hour and then she gets to the good part. She tells me her parents were out and she had some drinks if i wanted to go over. Well I had to ask her who she was, as I had no idea who I was talking to. She really got pissed at me for that, and I was kinda depressed after that, because I knew I missed out on a sure thing. The reason I still think about that is because I never figured out who she was, and this was before caller id was commonplace.

LOL!
I had the same deal with my very first phone number.
Wrong numbers got so annoying that I started taking orders too. I even used to offer "specials" like a free 2 litre bottle of soda with orders over 15 bucks--LOL!

holy cow, biggunlover! Your wife actually knew these people? What an amazing co-incidence! I hope that woman doesn't feel too embarassed to hang out with your wife in the future. What an interesting story.

A security firm placed alarms all over the city, and printed their number on the alarm box to call in case of the alarm going off. They moved offices, changed their phone, and sent out letters to their customers to tell them of the new number. Most customers went straight to their alarm, peeled off the sticker they had provided, and placed it over the old number. A few of them didn't, and forgot about it. When their alarms went off, often in the middle of the night, they called the old number. Which had been re-issued to the headbang8 household. We had our number changed very shortly thereafter.

Haha, guess there are a bunch of us doing it. My friend got called so often that whenever it was a number he didn't recognize, he gave the phone to me and I picked up "Cafe Amice, can I take your order?" One guy called back like a half hour later, and he was definitely not happy, but I was cracking up :).

Way I figure it, if you get the wrong number, you get what you deserve.

my number is only 1 digit from a home improvement company and I constantly get calls for them, I sometimes will ask them to hold and I hang up the phone, or I will tell them something that they dialed a direct number to a certain department and give them the competors number to call.

this happened about 15 years ago, I got a woman calling just to chit chat with a friend of hers, I listened to her gossip for about 10 minutes and then I said that there was something that I have been wanting to ask her, and when she wanted to know, I asked her who the hell was she think she was calling? and that she had the wrong number, and there was a fast click, what a rude bitch.

My wife just knew of them, not personally good friends, just knew of them and in this town everyone knows everyone else and their business, you know kinda like finding out stuff in a beauty parlor or barber shop. Don't think my wife hangs out with this person anyway.
